Much research is being done on skin pigment, and interest ing facts are being learned, but as yet nothing has been found which will bring back pigment in just the places in which it has been lost. People Who Need a Diagnosis I get hundreds of letters b month from people whom I wish I could help but I can't because what they very much need first is a good diagnosis, and I can seldom make a trust worthy diagnosis by mail. To make a diagnosis I would have to take a history and make a complete exami nation. This, of course, I can not do without seeing the per son in my office. Even when a man can be examined, the diagnosis may be very diffi cult to make, as when in eld erly person begins to fail. Then it is very hard to say whether it is just old age, or the person's increase in blood pressure, or the coming of hardening of the arteries, or of little strokes, or of a cancer hidden somewhere in the body. Obviously, in answer to let ters I had better not do any guessing. Oftentimes as ihe patient says, his doctor - poor fellow - is so swamped with work, and seeing more pa lienls a day than he can com fortably attend to, that he is tired out and has little energy or time for giving the patient the thorough examination that he needs. In such cases, it might be well if the doctor would send his patient to a big clinic where he could get a thorough examination made by several experts. There seems to be no illness which is more difficult for the family than mental dis turbances. And yet, much can be done for the patient.
