Valuable Pictures Slashed in Museum Paris fLTIi Nine pictures worth a total oi $400,000 were slashed last Sunday night at the Louvre Museum, reliable sources said today. The pictures included "Por trait of a Man" by De Vries and "The Hunt Breakfast" i.y Van Loo. A Louvre guard discovered the slashings last Monday morning and museum offi cials ordered all staff mem bers to keep silent about it, ac cording to the sources. Cul ture Minister Andre Malraux concurred in this decision, they added. There was no immediate in dication that the authorities have apprehended the per son responsible for the destruction. Actress Found Dead in Apartment New York - 1TD - Actress Joan Morgan McKay, 43, was found dead in her apartment Thursday an apparent suicide. The blonde actress was known to be depressed by the break-up of her marriage to actor Scott McKay. Following their separation four years ago, they became embroiled in a bitter court battle during which she accused Scott of dating actress Ann Sheridan. Her body, clad in flowered pajamas, was found on the bed of her West Side Manhattan apartment by another tenant of the building. The actress, a native of Memphis, Tenn., first gained recognition in 1049 when she portrayed Billie Dawn in "Born Yesterday," the same role that brought stardom to Judy Holliday. The governor would ap point all judges, and they would stand for election later, without opposition, on their records. If the voters turned a judge out of office, the gov ernor would appoint a suc cessor. This recommendation has generated much heat in law circles. The new constitution calls for annual sessions of the leg- ' islature, and removes t h e ' limitation on a 60 member House and 30 member Sen ate. The commission removed the death penalty from the constitution, letting the legis j lature decide whether to re tain it in the statutes. !
