Outsiders Get Welcome, Blast In Oregon Stops By United Preu International Outsiders who come to Ore gon to campaign were given a welcome and a withering blast Tuesday, both from Re publicans. In Portland, Rcpub 1 1 c a n leaders conferred with a three man national campaign team that is seeking to increase the Republican vote in cities. Its members are Grant Reynolds for the Negro vote, Rep. Ed ward Derwinski of Chicago for the ethnic vote, and Clare Williams for the women's vole. Reynolds, counsel for the chairman of the GOP National committee and himself a Ne gro, said former Vice Presi dent Richard Nixon lost the presidency by losing the Ne gro vote in 14 key cities. Harsh Words by Unander Republican Senate candi date Sig Unander, however, had some harsh words for out-of-state campaigners at Al bany. Unander predicted Oregon will see an invasion by "smooth talking medicine men" of the New Frontier during the next month to cam paign for his opponent, Demo cratic Sen. Wayne Morse. Unander said "the war chests have been flung open" because "the bosses of big la bor and the Eastern lobbyists" are worried about Morse. He said a "tide of defeat" is run ning against Morse. Democratic office seeker Blaine Whipple told a Hills boro audience that charges the country is heading toward socialism should be refuted. The Democratic nominee for Congress in the first district said only seven cents of the lax dollar now is spent on labor, health, education and welfare.
