In it he says, "the most difficult phase of cam paigning is hearing myself over and over, day after day." Apparently, this is typical of the Democratic administra tion, the same old story over and over. The other article is titled: "Fisher says 'Cuba Issue in Campaign.' ". When Carl Fisher speaks, the citizens sit up and take notice. Fluorides To the Editor: The grossly misleading impression given in your Sept. 24 Oregon La bor Press editorial reprint that fluoride is not any more poisonous than common table salt must not stand unchal lenged. The labels on the cans of sodium fluoride manufac- SWALLOWEL. Ever see salt labeled that way? Just how poisonous is flu oride? It is the killing agent in rat poison. And in gaseous form it is the killing agent in fluorine gas used in chemical warfare. One breath of the vapor is fatal. One drop on the skin will kill within 30 minutes. In diluted form fluoride is used by trainers of wild ani mals to dull the senses of, and induce docility in their jungle beasts by producing paralysis of the brain cells. For the same reason it is added to the drinking water of the en slaved people behind the Iron Curtain to deaden their minds and destroy their will to resist Communist domina tion. We have known this for the past 17 years ever since Major George Racy Jordon, expediter of "lend lease" during World War II, uncov ered the grisly fact that Rus sia was using the huge quan tities of sodium fluoride, which we were shipping her, for that purpose. PARADE'S readers have answered with a thundering yes - in what may be the largest poetry contest ever held in the U. S. Almost before the ink was dry on the announcement of our search for modern, unpublished American poetry, the entries began flooding in. By the time they stopped coming, poets in every state had sent in an amazing 100,000 poems! - PARADE, 6362. munist party member who turned rabidly anti-Communist 20 years ago. In testi mony before the House Com mittee On Un-American Ac tivities she has stated that the Communist plan to use fluori dation in America, either for outright poisoning of the population, or for reducing the mentality and the will to resist. Also Dr. Nocholas Nyaradi, former Minister of Finance in Red Hungary, and now an escapee to America, states that Comrade Zhuchovitski, legal adviser of the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Trade in the U. S., told him of the plan to poison the water reservoirs of our Country. And Princes Lleana of Roumania states that Anna Pauker, recent Red Dictator of Roumania told her of Communist plans to poison America's water supplies. Experts on Communism in cluding ex-Communists, and J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI, all testify that one of the first acts of violence by Commu nists in event of war will be seizure of our public water systems to poison the popula tion. To aid the Reds by in stallation of equipment to carry out this plan of mass murder-to-stockpile at our city water plants one of the deadliest poisons known to man for them to use on us, is, to me, stupidity that is only eclipsed by the utter insanity of putting the poison in the water ourselves. Man and Nature To the Editor: "Equality is a debunked theory . . .; no two blades of grass are alike, etc." were statements made in the letters section of M.T. Sept. 25. I would like to pre sent another perspective con cerning equality. Tht above statements are true in regard to nature. One of the foremost evolu tionary laws of nature is in equality. This is the law underlying variety, selectiv ity, and progress, without which life as we know it could not exist all would be monotony and stagnation, hence, no life. All animate and inanimate forms of life are subject to the physical and psychologi cal laws of nature. This in cludes man who Is not a sepa rated being but an integral part of creation. However exalted he likes to think of himself, the sooner he faces this fact, the sooner some of the confusions of life will clarify themselves. It is diffi cult to see how he can ever establish sound moral values before first learning some thing about himself. There are no evil forces In nature. Her laws, though con structive, are neutral. Man cannot escape the effects of natural law, neither can he completely contiol them; but unlike all other creatures, he has the ability to morally di rect them. This is no easy task. It requires dogged de termination, sacrifice, cooper ation, and the constant cuti vation of better thinking habits in order to maneuver the laws of survival to the ad vantage of humanity in general. Until we grasp a better understanding of the relation ship of man to nature; accept her laws for what they are persistent, impersonal, but morally plastic and endeavor to wiselj channel them so as to reap the fewest disasters and the greatest benefits for all, man will ever be con fused, and blindly erecting barriers to his own welfare, happiness, and spiritual evolvement. The results of evident non-reflectiveness are all too plain to be seen hu man misery; inequality; over population; under and over conservation; war and de struction. Drinking Teeth To the Editor: At last I am glad to read letters that do not seem censored. I have never said or written a word that I won't back up. So I hope the valley will get up in arms and shoot an "X" in the "No" square against fluoridation of the wonderful water we are blessed with. Now listen, people will you put water in your sto mach that you cannot put in car batteries? I would like to know for sure just how much of a breakfast your children cat before going to school, or grown tips either. Smash the Coke and candy machines and put government tested milk in the machines, and you will have children that will starve the dentists. Better to say "No" and In vestigate the danger of tam pering with a pure water sup ply, because Brother you "ain't" going to drink your teeth from a water fountain. Spirits of Devils To the Editor: Some one, 'name on file," White City, took exception to an article by me which appeared 9-14 headed "Psychic Phenomena," and suggested that only the Old Testament scriptures sub stantiated the ideas presented, I am sure the New Testament is just as plain as is the Old in teaching that man is mor tal and that God only hath immortality. (I Tim. 6:15, 16, I Tim. 1:17). True, those who obey God's revealed will, will "put on" immortality when the "last trump" is sounded. (I Cor. 15:51-54). Yes, two faithful men, Enoch and Eli jah have been translated with out seeing death, and a nunv ber were called from their graves at the time of Christ's crucifixion (Matt. 27:52) and Moses was resurrected (Jude 9). It was the disciple John who prophesied that spirits of devils, not departed loved ones, would play an important part in the final scenes of this earth's history. "And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs , . . For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth, and of the whole world to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." (Rev. 16:13, 14). Christ Himself warned of "false Christs and false proph ets who would show great signs and wonders, and warned us to "believe it not. (Matt. 24:24-26). The apostle Paul also warned (in I Tim. 4:1) "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to se ducing spirits and doctrines of devils. It is hoped that many who read these lines shall rather give heed to Christ's words when He plainly states: Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." (John 5:28, 29). In the days of the conquest of Darius the Mede a young prince and his beautiful wife were captured. Darius gave the young man the choice of giving himself up to torture and death or giving his wife to slavery and shame. The young prince unhesilat i n g 1 y chose the former so that his wife might be set free. Darius was touched by such courage and ordered that they both be freed. Later the prince asked his wife if she had noticed the noble appearance of the king. She answered, "My eyes were on the one who said that he would give his life for me." The One who was willing to give His life for you and me stands today with outstretch ed, nail-pierced hands, plead ing "Look unto me and be ye saved all the ends of the earth." (Isa. 45:22). Mark Hatfield seems to be prophesy ing great things for East Ore gon in the immediate future in way of manufacturing in dustry, based on cheap labor, cheap building sites and lower taxes, but with special empha sis on cheap non-union labor. It might be well to remind the people of East Oregon that these are the same induce ments which drew industry into the deep south immediate ly following the second World War but that the promoters of industry soon learned that as industry moved in real estate prices advanced, as people gathered around these indus tries taxes had to be Increased to provide the services de manded and as better schools were made available and working people associated with each other they learned I WANTED . The answer to this demand of the working people in the states of the deep south was "right to work" laws designed to outlaw the union. Do Mr. Hatfield's followers think such laws can be enacted in Oregon? The limiting factor for in dustry in East Oregon always has been available power in a quantity to do the job and at a price industry can afford to pay and the conspicuous lack of any reference to power sources or power costs in East Oregon marks this Hatfield political ballyhoo for exactly what it is. The tremendous Influx of Industry into the lower Co lumbia river valley, especially on the Washington side, fol lowed the offer of cheap pow er in large blocks from gov ernment built dams under the Bonneville Power Administra tion. Malheur county and Ida ho's Snake river valley could have had its share of that in dustry if ihe Army Engineer had built the high dam at Hells Canyon and transported its 640 thousand kilowatts to a "sub station in the vicinity of Boise, Idaho." Two bills were defeated in the 1961 session of the Oregon Legislature that were de signed to increase the amount of cheap power available to industry in Oregon and one was passed that was clearly intended to cripple the P.U.D.s.
