She told much of his peace efforts in bridging the east and the west and of his famed "Retreat of Peace"- a coedu cational school that became one nf India's most influen tial institutions. He ignored caste and superstition to win the title of "India's Universal Man." During the business session conducted by Mrs. R. Drew Lamb, plans were made for the 60th anniversary tea which the club will hold Oc tober 8 in Trinity parish house. The guests are to be members of Fortnightly Study club of Ashland and the Med ford Study club. The program is to begin at 1:30 p.m. Lodge Officer To Make Visit Mrs. Selma V. Watkins, Re bekah assembly president, will make an official visit to the Olive Rebekah lodge Mon day, October 1 during the reg ular meeting of the lodge at 8 p.m., in the Odd Fellows hall. Preceding the meeting a dinner at 6 p.m., is to be held at North's Chuck Wagon res taurant. Members are asked by the officers to wear formal dress for the dinner and meeting. Game and Meat Cookery To Be Studied by Units Mrs. Glenn Ryan, San Francisco, Salvation Army lieutenant commissioner, who with her husband are terri torial commanders of western United States, will speak in Medford Wednesday. October 3,. at a noon luncheon. The event will be a Joint meet ing of the two Home leagues and will be held at the Sal vation Army building, Beatty and Edward streets. As terri torial Home league president, Mrs. Ryan is in command of all ' women services of the Army in the 13 western states. Accompanying her will be Mrs. John Erickson. Portland, a lieutenant colonel, who with her husband are divisional commanders in charge of the Oregon and southern Idaho areas. On October 4 the county committees of Klamath, Jose phine, and Jackson will meet in Klamath Falls. Mrs. Glen V. Allen will preside at the District V meeting where common problems will be dis cussed and their possible so lutions. Miss Evelyn Funk, state extention agent, and Miss Beasley, also will attend. There will be a training ses sion on Monday, October 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. for unit standing committee chairmen. County committee members taking part include Mrs. Ice land Charley, safety; Mrs. W. M. Kelsoe, health; Mrs. Ira Fitzgerald, American Country Women of the World; Mrs. Lester Wertz, 4-H; Mrs.1 H. Piete, Azalea house; and Mrs. R. L. Wobbe, publicity. Eight area units have sched uled meetings this week. Shady Cova The Shady Cove unit will meet at the home of Mrs. Mildred Davis Tuesday, Oc tober 2, at 10 a.m. Mrs. John Patrick will present the les son.
