Joseph Francis Walsh, for
mer Jackson county jailer and
father of former Jackson coun
ty sheriff, Joseph Walsh, Med
ford, died Sept. 26 in Bridge
port, Conn., following a long
illness.
Mr. Walsh had lived in Med-
ford during I960 and 19U1
and was a member of the
Southern Oregon Peace Offi
cer's association. He was also
a member of Sacred Heart
Catholic church.
Survivors include one son,
Joseph Walsh, Medford; one
daughter, Mrs. Alice Giorda
nclla, Bridgeport, and eight
grandchildren.
Requiem mass will be read
at the St. Augustine's Cath
olic church in Bridgeport,
Conn., Saturday. Mass for re
pose of the soul will be read
at 10 a.m. Sunday at Sacred
Heart Catholic church, Med-
, ford.

gram at Ft. Ord, Calif.
Gates, who is scheduled to
return to active duty Oct. 20,
is a graduate of Medford High
school and was employed by
Weisfield's Jewelry Inc., be
