here Thursday night to secure
a nomination as an independ
ent candidate for the U. S.
Senate,
Lafferty, 87, reconvened a
convention in an attempt to
collect 250 signatures for a
petition to get his name on the
November election ballot. The
convention was opened Tues
day night.
He said he would reconvene
the convention today at noon
and if necessary, would recon
vene it Saturday at noon to
secure the required number of
signatures.
Lafferty contends that the
250 persons signing the peti
tion do not have to be present
at the same time but Jack
Thompson of Salem, state
elections director, has Indicat
ed that they must be present
at one time.
Lafferty estimated he had
150 signatures from the two
meetings.

West Const Airlines recent
ly asked the CAB to permit
non-stop service between Spo

and Sacramento, Calif., on
the other. It also asked for
non-stop service between Salt
Lake City and Spokane.
Additionally, the airlines
wanted an existing restriction
lifted to permit non-stop serv
ice between Portland and Spo
kane. West Coast requested that
all tlie.se be consolidated In the
service to Spokane case which
is now before the CAH.
