Dr. Thomas Rutter, gener al surgeon, Sgt. Thomas Ea ton, Oregon State police, and Dayle Waltermire, Medford Ambulance service, will point out some of the most common types of auto accidents, dis cuss their frequency and causes, and emphasize preven tive measures that can be taken to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities that occur each year on the high ways. Since traffic in Oregon is up 22 per cent over last year, and more than 16 per cent of traffic fatalities in the state last month were non-residents it is hoped that a discussion concerning public and individ ual responsibility in reducing the number of serious acci dents and fatalities over the Labor Day week end might prove helpful in improving the state's traffic record, ac cording to Mrs. C. Ivan Bur ton, program moderator. Certain legislative meas ures governing traffic viola tions will be explained, and wavs in which "Mr. Average ! Citizen" can help to achieve effective legislation which might lower the annual death toll will be pointed out by the panel.
