Work Sentence Robert Royal Allison. 18, of Gold Hill, was ordered in district court Friday to work 40 hours for the city of Gold Hill in lieu of a jail sentence iind fine. The youth was arrested Thursday in Gold Hill on a charge of being drunk on a public highway, according to Jackson county sheriff's dep uties. Interment will be in the family plot in the Phoe nix cemetery. The body will lie in state at Conger-Morris Sunday afternoon. Mr. Poling was born Feb. 15. 1886, in Phillipsburg. Kan., where, on June 8. 1015, he was married to Nellie Vin cent, who survives. He came to southern Oregon in li)20 and until 13 months ago had a farm and orchard on the North Phoenix rd. He was an elder in the Presbyterian church for 42 years. He was J superintendent of the Sunday school in the Phoenix Presby terian church for 30 years. Thirteen months ago he re tired from his orchard and moved to Medford. Surviving besides his wife are three daughters. Mrs. Mil died De Witt, Medford; Mrs. Marjorie Van Gordon, Med ford, and Mrs. Gwencth Law rence, Bremerton, Wash.; one brother, William E. Poling, San Lrandro, Calif.; two sis ters, Mrs. Bessie Young, Med-. ford, and Mrs. Mary Higby, Phillipsburg, Kan., and six grandchildren. Active pall bearers will be Eddie Meeker, Harold Comp- ton, Russell Thompson, Del laf Schnack, Jack Flnrcy and Kenneth Hulbert. Honorary pall bearers will he Alvin Wheeler, John Wubbles, G. O. Sanden, Curtis Vanbebber, Waller Gebhard and Horace Thompson. GLEN E. RUSSELL Funeral services for Glen E. Russell. 51, of Crescent City, Calif., who died Thursday, will be held al 1 p.m. Tues day at Perl Funeral Home. The Rev. D. E. Millard, pas tor of the New Age church. Eagle Point, will officiate. In terment will be in the East wood lOOF cemetery. Mr. Russell, the son of Na- lan H. Russell and Pearl Morgan, was born at Divide, Oregon on March 9, 1911. On April 9, 1942, in Portland, Oregon, he was inducted into the U.S. Army as a Technical Sgt. He served over seas in New Guinea and Luzon from Sept. 1043 to December 1045. He was employed with the Lyle Russell Logging compa ny for ten years prior to his moving to Crescent City a year ago. Since that time he has been self employed as a logger. On March 14, 1953, in Reno, Nevada, he was married to Agnes V. Scranton, who sur vives. Other survivors include his father, Nathan H. Russell, Williams, Ore., one brother, Lylc, Lyle M. Russell, Sonora, j Calif., one sister, Mrs. Bea trice Johnson, Phoenix, Ari zona; four step - daughters, Mrs. Julia Laborde. Liver more, Calif., Mrs. Marjorie , McBricty, Great Falls, Mon tana, Mrs. Viola Baird, Cres cent City, Calif., Mrs. Bonnie Mann, Council Bluff, Iowa, and 13 step-grandchildren. His mother, Mrs. Pearl Rus sell preceded him in death in 1961 and one brother, Ever ett Russell preceded him in death in 1937. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Lit- willcrs Mountain View chap el with interment at Missouri Flats cemetery at Murphy. EDWARD C. ROOT j Funeral services for Edward C. Root and Emma Ruh, was born on October 22, 1880 at : Scott, Wisonsin. He was a 1 graduate of McCormick Opti cal college, Chicago, III., and practiced optometry for eight years in Portage, Wis. He was also a graduate of the William Zabst School of Music, Port age, Wis. and studied music at the Herman Zeitz Conserva tory in Milwaukee, Wis.
