JULY 27, 1962 Salaverry, Peru -HOT-- Doc tors aboard the hospital ship Hope sent an urgent appeal to drug companies in the U.S. today for a special type of blood plasma they hope will save the life of a 12-year-old boy with hemophilia. The plasma will be used to supplement whole blood trans fusions being given almost constantly to liny Santos Narvacz, whose courage has captured the hearts of the doctors and nurses of the floating hospital. Santos has been bleeding since Wednesday of last week, when surgeons operated to re move a badly infected bone from his left thumb. He has received 16 transfu sions of whole blood, includ ing one donated by Dr. J. Mayefield Harris, Los Altos, , Calif., the surgeon who per formed the operation. , The Peruvian army volunteered donors. Despite the willing ness to help, there has been difficulty in securing a suffi cient number of donors with the right type of blood. ; FAMILY POLITICIANS j Worcester, Mass.
