She Tried Sage Tea to
Cure Grandpa's Baldness
Mainly, I remember my
grandfather because his head
was as barren of hair as the
milk-glass doorknob on his
bedroom door.
My grandmother, who lived j
for many years after grandpa !
died, always had an herb gar
den. From it she gathered
various flavorings, and some
remedies, any or all of which
were administered to the
members of her family, any
time they were ailing. What
ever the affliction, she could
find something in the herb
garden that was supposed to
cure it.
One of the remedies, that
may or may not have worked
had it not been suddenly in
terrupted by grand father's
death, was what she pre
scribed for the re-growing of
ha-ir on the human heasl;
mainly on that of my &ra-nd-
pa. She must have read about
it. for he was bald for many i
years before she decided on
the treatment. He went along
with the idea.
Sage Tea Poultice
Three times every day he
bathed his head in a strong
solution of "sage tea." There
were times and occasions,
when, in desperation to has
ten hair growth, he made a
poultice of steeped sage leaves I
and sat tor Hours wim nis
head swathed In the aromatic
mess. At such time grandma
nodded her head; she too
thought the hair would sprout
faster with this treatment.
As a small boy I derived a
great deal of personal pleas
ure from the experiment, for
1o me he smellest like a
Thanksgiving turkey. To me
it was fun, but for him it was
a serious experiment in hair
restoration. He really be
lieves! he was fKttwg sie

We still say. a saoe is a per
son of great learning and pos
sessing extreme wisdom.

leaders whose decisions were
directly attributed to the fact

or used the leaves in medi-
