JULY 1. 13RJ C 9 DAR Chapter Hears Report Reports of the 71st Contin ental Congress of the Daugh ters of the A nerican Revolu tion which was held in April In Washington, DC, were given at the June 23 meeting of the Crater Lake chapter, DAR. The event was a picnir held at the home of Mrs. M. M. Morris, South Stage road. Giving the reports was Mrs. George R. Carter, chapter delegate. Mrs. Judd Greenman, re gent, presided at the business meeting. New members wel comed were Mrs. Margaret Knowles, formerly of Youngs town, Ohio, and Miss Cora Maxfield, Cowchilla, Calif. A discussion was held on Flag day and flag etiquette. The next meeting will be held in September and will emphasize Constitution week. ; aiii'rniw.tnm,tMiimiinni iiMiMmainmaiJftfrnriiMliiifcii rlrt m I Central Point Club Installs Officers; Makes Picnic Plans Central Point-Mrs. Harvey Cassman was installed finance officer, and Mrs. Dee Booth, was installed chaplain of the Central Point Navy Mothers club June 27 during an after noon meeting in the home of Mrs. Hester Culbertson. The two officers had been absent during regular installations held earlier. The next meeting of the group will be a picnic to be held in the Central Point City park Wednesday, July 11 at 5 p.m. All mothers of Navy, Navy Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard personnel, pres ent or past, are invited to at tend meetings of the group and are particularly invited to the picnic with their families. New Dialing jTopic for Club Mrs. Inez C-ravelle, repre sentative of the Pacific North west Bel' company, was guest speaker at a dinner meeting of the Medford Zonta club Thursday at the Town House. Mrs. Gravelie explained the direct distance dialing system which will become effective July 15. Mrs. Elsie Butler gave highlights from her recent trip to Alaska and the World's Fair. Special guest was Mrs. Hel en Parish Stevens, formerly a public health nurse in Med ford and now teaching public health in the nursing depart ment of San Jose State col lege. The next meeting of the Medford Zonta club will be a picnic July 26 at the home of Mrs. Grace Holmes. Harney County Picnic Slated All former Harney county residents and friends are in vited to attend the Southern Oregon Harney County picnic scheduled for July fl at Tou- Velle State park on the Rogue river. This will be the 13th consecutive picnic for former Harney county residents held in this area. Each family is to take a pic nic lunch and table service. Coffee, soft drin'.s and ice cream will be furnished and the lunch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Games and music will be conducted after the lunch. Birth of Child Is Announced Hornbrook -- Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chapman received word June 27 of the birth of a son to their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Oli ver A. Fick. The child was born at the Redlands Commu nity hospital at Redlands, Calif., weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces. He is the couple's first child and has been named Douglas Brian. At the time of the baby's birth, his father was in Hon ululu, Hawaii, enroute home from Christmas island, where he has been since March, as a civilian member of Joint Task Force 9 which has been con ducting nuclear tests in the South Pacific atomic testing area. He was scheduled to arrive in San Bernardino, Calif., on Friday evening, June 29. Maternal grandparents of the baby are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rimell, Yucaipa, Calif., but former residents for many years of Canyon- ville, Ore.
