o a Local and Trash Firt - Medford fire men put out a trash fire about 7:30 p.m. at 813 Grant St. They said the burning was being done in prohibited hours on a vacant lot. Accident -Cars operated by Roger Paul Gratsinger, 27, of route .1. box 388, Eagle Point, and Gretchen Dona Me cum, 34, of Butte Falls, were involved in an accident on Crater Lake highway between Eagle Point and Butte Falls junction, according to state police. Pitt Star Route, box 10, Butte Falls, was listed as a medical patient. Permits Issued - Building permits have been issued by the Medford building depart ment to the Medford hotel to install a boiler at Main and Ivy sts., estimated to cost S2, 200; and to Keegan Town send, to remodel his residence at 2912 East McAndrews rd. at a cost of $2,000. Scout Meeting - Jackson school Cub Scout Pack 8 will meet at 7:30 o'clock tonight at St. Mark's Episcopal church. Surgery Patient - Mrs. Wil liam D. Reed, 433 Berrydale ave., Medford, was listed yes terday as a surgery patient at Sacred Heart hospital. 4-H News Sis-Q-Squirts The Sis-Q-Squirts 4-H club met at the Stan and Mary Billings farm on Jackson rd. recently. Mary and Stan Billings clipped the cows that they are going to take to the pre-fair at Bellview Grange. The club went up to Wavne and Penny Fletchers, who live on the Green Springs highway. Each member cooked his meal over a camp fire. The Sis-Q-Squirts is a com bination of dairy and outdoor cookery clubs. Mary Billinss, Reporter Gold Hill Livestock The Gold Hill Livestock 4 H club had its regular busi ness meeting recently. Re ports were given by Kenny Martin on "How your Pigs Grade," and by Peggy Martin on "Foot Rot." Peggy Martin and Candy Gail gave reports on 4-H summer school. Before the meeting, we judged market pigs. Our next meeting will be a potluck picnic at the Jones' July 2. The meeting was adjourn ed and refreshments were served. Laura Thomas, Reporter. Rookie Cooks The June meeting of the Rookie Cooks 4-H club o Ea gle Point was held at the home of Cheryl and Mike Hefley. The meeting was called to order by vice president Bob by Hubbard. NUNAN Ventura, Calif. - Charles J. Nunan, son of a pioneer Jack sonville family, died here June 26 at his home. He had lived in Ventura for 40 years. Funeral services were scheduled this morning in Ventura. A native of Jacksonville, Mr. Nunan attended school there before enrolling at San ta Clara university in Cali fornia. He was an ardent base ball fan and was a member of early-day Jacksonville teams. Mr. Nunan's mer c a n t i 1 e store in Jacksonville was one of the largest and best known. The family home built by his parents still stands on Old Stage rd. He later farmed the area now known as the Heu ner farm near Jacksonville. Survivors include his wife, Mignon Nunan; a son. Craig Nunan; a daughter, Virginia Nunan; several grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Fanny Russell, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and a nephew, Donald J. Russell, president of Southern Pacific railroad. GRAHAM M. FOOTE Private funeral services were held today for Graham M. Fooe, 73, of the Rogue Val ley Manor, who died Wednes day. Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery, Pasadena, Calif. Perl Funeral home was in charge of ar rangements. Mr. Foote was born in Ke wanee, 111., March 7, 1889. He was a veteran of World War I. He served for several years as an inspector for the juvenile division of the Long Beach, Calif., police department. Townspeople are invited and may make reservations at the SOC business office or student affairs. Tour members will leave Britt Student center at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 5:30 p.m. The bus will be equipped with a PA system, restrooms, and air conditioning, Bennett said. Dr. Frank Sturgcs and Dr. Irene Hollenbeck of the South ern Oregon college science de partment, will serve as natur alists. Picnic lunches may be brought individually or packed by the college for 75 cents. Transportation fee for the trip is $3, Bennett said, and reservations should be made by this afternoon. At OSU. he majored Pitt ave., Medford, left this week for the University of Maryland, College Park, Md., where he wil begin training for the Peace Corps. Following a two-month training course, Guss will be sent to British Honduras for two years. He will teach and train teachers in secondary education.
