Action
In addition to urging his
own party "to do better," the
President also reminded Re
publicans in Congress that for
years Democrats supported
the Eisenhower administra
tion on important legislation.
He particularly asked GOP
support for the foreign trade
bill which faces a showdown
vote in the House today.
The President said "there is
no sense in the Congress going
home without taking action
on a whole variety of steps
which will strengthen our
country and our economy."
