Casad, Griffin Creek, were honored at a dinner June 18 in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary. The couple was married June 19, 1912, in Grants Pass and have lived in southern Oregon almost continuously since that time. All their seven sons and daughters were present tor the dinner. Dinner Honors Couple On Golden Anniversary The golden wedding anni versary of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Casad of Griffin Creek area was observed at a din ner given June 18 by their children at North's Chuck Wagon restaurant. . The seven children of the couple all were present for the occasion. They are A. K. Two Men Honored As the result of the consoli dation of the Federal Avia tion agency here with the Portland agency, two of the personnel have been transfer red to Portland. Thursday evening ft the close of the working day the two men, C. A. Martineau, general operation inspector, and Urban B. Klcutsch, gen eral maintenance inspector, were honored at a coffee hour by personnel of the FAA of fices at the airport and in Medford. Weather bureau personnel and fixed base op erators also attended. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Marti neau and children, Annette and David, 633 South Holly sireet, will leave Wednesday for Portland. The family came here from Portland 18 months ago. The children were students at Jefferson school. Thursday a group of friends In the family's neighborhood entertained Mrs. Martineau at luncheon at North's Chuck Wagon restaurant. The after noon was spent playing cards in the home of Mrs. Earl Barnhart and the group pre sented Mrs. Martineau a fare well gift. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smith, Route 1, Old Stage road, entertained the family at dinner in their home Thurs day evening. Mr. Kleutsch also will leave during the week for Portland, while Mrs. Kleutsch and their five children will remain here until they have disposed of their home at 2168 Crest brook road. , The children are Bernard and Joan, who attended St. Mary's school last year, and James, Carol and John, all pre-school ages. Past Chiefs Club To Hold Meeting The Past Chief's club, Pyth ian Sisters lodge, will meet for a potluck luncheon and business session Tuesday, June 26 at 1 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Walter Michael, 475 Charlotte Ann road. A social hour will follow. Mrs. Ida Ireland will be co hostess and Mrs. Michael will preside at the meeting in the absence of the president, Mrs. Harry Barneburg. Home Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hough ton and son, David, 512 Da kota avenue, are home after being in Seattle to visit the World's Fair. While there they were guests of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alf Guldahl and children Anitra, Eric and Martin. Mrs. Guldahl is the former Miss Harriett Houghton. MEETING PLANNED BY BAPTIST CLASS The Golden Link class of the First Baptist church ill meet Thursday, June 28. at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. N. L. Couch, 606 Diamond avenue. After the dinner the couple was honored by three of their grand daughters, Margaret, Phyliss and Susan Garris, who sang, and by their daughter-in-law, Mrs. A. K Casad, who sang a solo. The honored couple then repledged their marriage vows in a ceremony conduct ed by the Rev. Bernard An drews of the First Baptist church. Thecouple exchanged gold wedding rings, gifts of their eldest son, Roland Casad, who stood with his father during the ceremony. Mrs. Casad was attended by their eldest daughter, Mrs. Thomas Smith. The. couple was married June 19, 1912 in Grants Pass and have lived in southern Oregon all but four years since that time. In addition to their seven children, the event was at tended by 21 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Only two grandsons, Richard Casad and Eugene McFadden, could not attend the dinner. Registering the guests was Miss Martha L. Casad, a granddaughter. Mrs. John J. Casad and Mrs. A. K. Casad were in charge of table decorations. Other out - of - town guests were A. K. Accompanying the girls was Mrs. Gertrude Winning ham, mother advisor, Mrs. Ralph Johnson and Mrs. Al bert Johnson. Miss Diana Nordstrom, War ren assembly teacher, was ap pointed grand representative of California in Oregon. Miss Carol Axson was a grand choir member for the grand session and receiving grand cross of colors were Gail Buf fington and Miss Lona But fington. Miss Alice Pittney, Junc tion City, was elected grand worthy advisor. Past Noble Grands Change Meeting Gold Hill - Past Noble Grand's club of Amethyst TCc bekah lodge will meet at the home of Mrs. Albert Gascon instead of at the home of Mrs. Lester Parker as previously announced. The meeting will be the last until fall and is slated for Thursday, June 28 at 8 p.m- Installation, Initiation Held by Altrusa Club Mrs. Walter Young was in stalled president of Altrusa Club of Medford in cere monies held June 14 at the home of Mrs. Virgil Mohr, 2132 Dellwood avenue. Others installed were Mrs. Charles Kyer, vice president; Mrs. Maizle Daily; corres ponding secretary; Miss Lotus Eaton, recording secretary; Mrs. C. A. Parlier, treasurer, and Mrs. Mohr, Mrs. Pauline Bright, Mrs. Ralph Dippel and Mrs. Fred Rankin, directors. Mrs. Rankin, a past presi dent, conducted the installa tion. Mrs. Daily, chairman of Al trusa information, conducted the initiation ceremony dur ing the same meeting. Initi ated were Mrs. Florence Mc Kenna, chief of nursing serv ice of the Veterans Adminis tration domiciliary; Mrs. S. P. Devers, co-owner of Color ama Paint center, and Mrs. Betty Fichtner, owner of Services Unlimited. They were each presented corsages and pins. Projects Reported Project reports will be given by the club at its meet ing Thursday, June 28, at 7 p.m. in the Medford hotel. A dinner will be held prior to the business session. It was reported that the new map to be printed on the Alturas place mats is nearly ready for circulation and that a few spaces are still avail able. Persons interested may contact the club president, Mrs. Victor Peterson, 773- 5841.. Fifteen thousand of these place mats are printed locally each year and distributed free to churches, granges, clubs, conventions, lodges, public meeting and other events as well as to restaurants, motels, hotels, filling stations and the Medford Chamber of. Com merce. In addition to the adver tising by local firms on the mats, is a map of the area showing recreation spots and shopping areas. Money from the project supports the local and international projects of the club. Among the club's projects is the vocational grants given each year under the super vision of the vocational com iK. At the re cent meeting Mrs. Lucine Miles, chairman, reported that four older women had re ceived these grants which made it possible for them to retrain themselves so they could find employment and support their children. Two of the women have attended Robertson School of Business tor one year and the two others took refresher courses in the adult education pro gram at the high school. Mrs. Young, the club's dele gate to the 12th District Al trusa conference held in May in Spokane, Wash., reported on the new regulations passed by the clubs from Washing ton, Oregon, Idaho, and the three western provinces of Canada. Mrs. Bessie Babcock, Mos cow, Idaho, district governor, presided at the sessions, she said. Among the speakers was Dr. Loretta M. Miller, past district governor and chair man of the public relations committee of the Internation al board of Altrusa. She spoke on her recent tour of the Far East where she visited foreign scholars who had re ceived Altrusa international grants to complete their edu cation in this country. Grant Recipient Another speaker was one of the recipients of a grant from India who expressed her grati tude for the assistance and friendship she received in this country. She commented that life in the United States is greatly misunderstood In In dia and when she returns she plans to promote a clearer pic ture of American ideals and attitudes. At the conference Mrs, Young was selected as assis tant to Mrs. Dorothy Hollings worth,. first vice governor of the district, and acted as tx- peditor of the conference. At the close of the meeting I Mrs. Mohr and Mrs. Carl Bee- . bee served refreshments. ' Women to Meet A social meeting for mem ber of the Scottish Rite Wom en's club is slated for Monday, June 25 at R p.m. in the Ma sonic temple. Mrs. Mar shall Day, Mrs. Hal Bishop and Mrs. W. G. Dr. Crouch, founder and executive director of the Shake spearean festival at Boulder, Colo., is on the faculty of the University of Colorado. He is on leave of absence from the Colorado institution to direct "Coriolanus" for the Oregon festival this summer.
