Irqind I First Family feJ of Fishing They keep reeling in record catches and championship trophies By LEE H. SCHRIMPF FOR THEIR honeymoon, Joe and Agnes Krieger, of Tulsa, Okla., went on a fishing trip into the wilds of Canada. That set the pat tern. Since then, they have become the fishingest family in Oklahoma and possibly the whole country. Joe, 38, is the current fresh-water fishing champion, a title he snagged at an anglers' world series on Oklahoma's Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. But at home he has to share the glory. Two of his youngsters Joe 11112, and Jeanne, 14 already are junior fishing champions. His other children Joanne, 15, Julie, 13, Steve, 11, and Jane, 10 also are avid anglers who have hauled in some im pressive catches. And although his wife has no official titles, she does hold the family's record for landing the biggest bass, a whopping 10-pounder. The Kriegers share their know-how with others through an informal fishing school. The course includes some "class room" work (using Krieger home movies of fishing trips), live demonstrations by Joe, Agnes, and the kids, and a weekend fishing trip during which the Krieger theories are put to the test. In the years ahead, the fishing Kriegers are certain to reel in many more titles be cause some of the youngsters are even more dedicated anglers than their par ents. "My oldest son can fish all day with out tiring," Joe says. "Sometimes I have to make him quit for his own good." mm v -v n l.
