I ti til I Commercial Fishing Closed in Bay Area Portland (UPB The Oregon Fish Commission announced here Wednesday it was clos ing the 30 -day commercial fishing season for chum sal mon in Tillamook Bay. The commission made the announcement at (ts monthly meeting. It said the closure was indefinite. The commission said that commercial fishing at the bay nas gone from 2.8 million pounds m 1928 to 12,000 pounds in 1960. It said it did not know the cause for the drop. Robert W. Sehoening, state fisheries director, also am nounced that the Yakima In dian Tribal Council has adopted regulations for tribal members limiting gilinetting in the Columbia river. He said the council dis closed It will not defend two Yakima Indians arrested by the state police last fall for Illegally fishing in the Columbia. Timber Harvest Is Lowest Since 1949 Salem -fflPB- Oregon's tim ber harvest in 1961 amounted to 7,410,683,000 board feet, State Forester Dwight Phlpps said today. He said this was the lowest volume harvested since 194B and the second consecutive year that production has de clined. In the last two years the total production figure has dropped some 1,453 million board feet, having decreased about 736 million from 1960 to 717 million from 1859. Lane County, which claim ed the lead for log produc tion from Clatsop County in 1941 and gave it up to Doug !f County in 1949, again took top honors with a harvest of 1 ,477,7 1 0,000 board feet.
