Medford Council Declines to
Accept Lighting Cost Proposal

a state highway department
proposal that Use city st Med

By a 4 to 3 vote, the coun
cil overruled a recommenda
tion si the administration that
the highway department's re
quest be accepted. Annual cost
ot the lighting wouid have
amounted to about $980, City
Manager Hobert Dug said.
Duff pointed out, in support
of the administration's rec
ommendation, that Portland
and Eugene both pay the cost
of lighting highway inter
changes within their city lim

explained that he felt the re
quest was reasonable since the
interchanges would be used
primarily by local traffic.

the cost of lighting the en
