Mrs. Cox wore a two-piece light blue polished cotton dress. For her daughter's wed ding, Mrs. Bentz wore a white taifeta full skirted frock and t h e bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Hawkins, wore a blue suit with red accessories. Out-of-town guests who at tended the wedding reception that followed included the bride's grandmother, Mrs. M. Melton, Eugene, and her grandfather, M. Lister Bentz, Klamath; and T. Charles Whitaker, Richmond, Calif., a friem' of the bridegroom. For the wedding reception the Hayes home was decorat ed with pink and white carna tions and roses. The bride was honored ai a shower previous to the wedding, when Mrs. Cox en tertained at her home in Kla math. The couple is living at 23 North B street. Eagle Point. Marriage Plans Are Announced Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hoyt, 61S Diamond avenue, announce the engagement and approach ing marriage of their daugh ter. Miss JoAnn Hoyt, to Ar thur Jennings, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jennings, 755 Queens drive. The bride-elect is a gradu ate ol Milo academy and is employed at Rogue Valley hospital. Mr. Jennings attend ed Oregon Technical institute. Klamath Falls, and is employ ed at the Lockheed Missile and Space Plant at Sunnyvale. Calif. The ceremony is planned for July 1. 'Hard Times' Dance Planned Townsend club members announce they will sponsor a hard times" dance June 15 in the Pythian building. Those who attend are to wear costumes In keeping with the theme and those who are not costumed will be asked to pay small fine, it was an nounced. At the meeting of the group last Wednesday a council meeting was called for a de cision on the amount of money the group would give to the Parade of States at National Convention and it was decid ed on the amount of $100. Officers report that the club now is in second place in elig ibility for a trophy at the forthcoming convention in Bremerton, Wash. The group now is working toward a first place. Miss Rosanno Legai will spend the summer traveling in tho United States and in Europe. She will accompany an aunt, Mrs. L, V. Townley, Bellingham, Wash., and is to meet Mrs. Townley in Van couver, B.C., trom wnere me two will fly to London, Miss Leg as To Travel Miss Rosanne Lcgas, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Legas. 220 North Banie burg road, will leave Mon day, June 11, for Seattle, Wash., on the first lap of a trip to Europe. Miss Legas will spend sev eral days at the Seattle World's Fair before joining her aunt, Mrs. L. V. Town ley. Bellingham, Wash., in Vancouver. British Columbia, for their flight to London. One of the highlights of her trip will be a week's visit In Schombcrg, Germany, a vil lage in the Black forest, where she will meet Miss Helga Gchlhaar. The two girls have been corresponding for several years, ever since Miss Legas saw Miss Gehlhaar's name in the Christian Science Moni tor. Miss Legas and her aunt will meet Miss Sharon Town- ley, cousin nf the Medford girl, in Paris where Miss Townley lives. The trio will take an extensive motor trip through Europe. The first part of July (hey will attend the festivals In Pamplona. Spain. Miss Legas will return to Medford Sep tember 9. New man, 3523 New Hope road, Grants Pass, and Archie Wayne KreL i, Lakeview, were married in a 7:30 o'clock evening jeremony recently in the Assembly of God church, Grants Pass. The Rev. Harry L. Ayres performed the cere mony. ""he bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a gown of white satin with a lace bodice. Her bouquet was of white carnations and pink rosebuds. Mrs. C. R. Kinney, Ash land, was matron of honor. Her gown was of blue crys talline and she carried white chrysanthemums and pink carnations. Miss Linda Dierks and Miss Margaret Cooke were bridesmaids. Tfiey wore matching gowns of crystal line. Miss Dierks in yellow and Miss Cooke in blue. Richard Kinney and Auriith Newman lighted the candles am. Christine Kinney was flower girl. Ring bearers were Debbie Newman and Ronald Kinney. Melvin Krcbs was best man for his brother and seating the guests were James Street- er and Ole Newman, brother of the bride. The church was decorated with chrysanthemums, daisies, stock and carnations. The Shirley James Honored Guest Prospect Mrs. Neil Stock crbrand was hostess for a bridal shower June 5 honor ing Miss Shirley James, whose marriage to James Setzer, Prospect, was set for June 8. Ernest Millers Leave for Home Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Miller and two children left Friday evening for Los Angeles where they will embark for England and a tour of Europe before returning to their the Eastern Star on Thursday, June 14, at the Medford Ma sonic temple. Expected to return to the Rogue valley later this sum mer after teaching in the Mel bourne, Australia, schools for the last year as a Fulbright exchange teacher is John L. Smock. He and his family have been living in the Miller home in Melbourne as the Millers have in the Smock home in Central Point. Unit To Hold June Meeting The June meeting of the Jackson Countv unit of the National Retired Teachers' as sociation will be held Mon day, June 11, at 1.30 p.m. at the farm home of Mrs. San-i ford Richardson. Raths To Spend Summer in Valley Ashland - Mr. and Mrs. Roger Rath, former residents of Ashland, have returned from southern California where they have been living for several years and will spend the summer In Oregon. They have parked their house trailer in Siskiyou Village, 27H9 Pacific Highway, south. wedding songs were furnish ed by Frank Taus accom panied by Mrs. Virgil Hull. The bride's mother was dressed in a light green frock designed with flared ' skirt and the bridegroom's mother wore a street length dress in a pastel shade. Both had cor sages of white earna'ions and pink rosebuds. At the reception which fol lowed, Tiss Zorene Newman cut and served the wedding cake which had been made and decorated by Mrs. Carl Haynes of Grants Pass. Mrs. C. B. Newman, Bo- thell, Wash., served the cof fee and Mrs. Sherman New man presided at the punch bowl. Miss Donna Abston reg istered the guests and Mrs. Ole Newman had charge of the gifts. Mrs. Hilda Kinney, assisted by Miss Annette Burr, both of Ashland, were in charge of the reception ar rangements. The bride is a member of the class of 1962 at Grants Pass High school. The bride groom is employed by Ore gon Food stores. They are at home at 519 Southeast River side avenue. Grants Pass. Auxiliary Elects Delegates ' For Fall Convention Delegates to the National convention at Denver, Colo., September 2 through 7. were elected at the last meeting of me Meaiord Letter Carriers auxiliary to the Medford branch, National Association of Letter Carriers. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Dennis Pfaff. 830 Lawnsdale road, with Mrs. Ben Ashton, assistine. Those elected to attend the conven tion trom this auxiliary were Mrs. Randy Hugdahl and Mrs. waller Wilson. Mrs. Larrv Rose will attend as a dele gate from the state. Mrs. Ben Ashton. Mrs. Del- bcrt Cone, Mrs. Joe Barrett nd Mrs. Dennis Pfaff re ceived the initiation ceremony. Reports of the state conven tion at Corvallis were given by the delegates who attended. They were Mrs. Rose, Mrs. Hugdahl, Mrs. Fitzpalrick and Mrs. Wilson. The Medford auxiliary received prizes for taking in the most new mem bers during the past year. This will be the last busi ness meeting until September, but picnics and outdoor meet ings will be announced later. Square Dancers Promote Event Oregon square dancers, who manned a publicity booth at the first Far Western' Square dance convention in Las Veg as last week end, report that they did a brisk business in passing out information fold ers. . The booth was set up by the square dancers to publi cize the Far Western conven tion which will be held in Oregon August 15 to 17, 1963. With some 10,000 square dancers expected, officials say that this will be the largest convention of this type to be held in the west. At the Nevada convention, representatives of Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Mon tana. Idaho and part of Cali fornia voted to participate in the Federation, a new or ganization designed to provide square dancer conventions for the dancers in the West, where national conventions are seldom held. Fifty Oregon couples at tended the convention, man ned the booth and distributed applications for the Oregon convention. Bosworth, 995 South Oakdale avenue, of the engagement of their daughter, Rae Haze!, to John LaFitte Bell. Mr. Bell's parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. John Bell of Sulphur Springs, Tex. Both Miss Bosworth and her fiance are on the staff of Sacred Heart hospital. Miss Bosworth is a laboratory technician. Final Meeting Held by Group Ashland-At the final meet ing for the year members of Ashland Study club elected officers and enjoyed a social afternoon at the home of Mrs. Len Osgood, 720 Walker avenue. Luncheon was served at rose-centered tables by the Mesdamcs N. H. Dillon, Hor ace Myers, Frances Hardy Elizabeth Sommer, Faith Mc Cullough and the hostess, Mrs. Osgood. Elected to a second term as club president was Mrs. R. Drew Lamb. Serving with her will be Mrs. Sommer, vice president, and Mrs. McCul lough, secretary-treasurer. Several amusing games and contests featuring members' surnames and book titles re sulted in hilarity and prizes for Miss Gertrude Engle and Mrs. Myers. Reunion Plans Continue 13 Classmates Sought Plana are progressing for the ten-year reunion of the Class of 19S2 of Medford High school. The event will be held at the Rogue Valley Country club on July 7. It will consist of,a social hour from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by an informal buffet dinner and dancing. "Our Living Soil" is the title of a color film which will be shown, and Mrs. Vern Shan gle will speak on the function of calcium in nutrition. Miss Anna Streed will trace the changes in the use of fats in the diet since 1900. These changes, it has been pointed out, correspond with a grad ual increase in the incidence of heart disease. The data for her talk has been taken from the USDA 1962 year book supplement. Couple and Son Visit Ashland; Rites Announced Ashland - Mr. and Mrs. Leon R. McDougall and 7-month-old son Mattl.ew have been guests for several days with Mrs. McDougall's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Barksdale, 463 Palm avenue. Mr. McDougall received his theological degree at the Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, Calif., on May 31, and will be ordained June 13 in Portland. He will be come curate of Grace Memo rial Episcopal church in that city. Mrs. McDougall is the for mer Beverly Barksdale. Mr. McDougall's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McDougall, recent ly moved to Portland from Medford. At Cabin Mrs. R. W. Prosser has ar rived in southern Oregon from her home in San An tonio, Tex., to spend the sum mer at her summer cabin at Union Creek on the Rogue river. Jefferson and nephew, j Tom, Oakland, Calif., and Fred Barr, San Lorenzo, Cal-! if., called on Mr. and Mrs. Morris Curtis on the Crater Lake highway in Eagle Point Wednesday and Thursday.
