MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFORD. OREGON Rogue Gallery Showing Works of Portland Man A retrospective snow of yc-urtg Portland artist now liv ing in Australia, is on exhibit t the Rogue gallery. The ar tist, Frank Elliott, has been residing in Europe and Aus tralia ior the past six years. The present exhibit consists of paintings, in oil and water color, drawings and litho graphs, some completed while he was living In Portland, the majority executed during his travels and studies in Europe. ; : Mr. Elliott received his de gree in an from Lewis and Clark college and then did advance work at the Port land Art museum. In Europe he studied at the Academy of 'Art in Florence, Italy, and later with Oskar Kokschka, the famous German Expres sionist. i. His work ranges from the representational to the semi- abstract, Mr. Elliott is also an accomplished musician and is well known in Europe and Australia for his small jazz combo. Many of his latest paintings are concerned with jazz, presenting jazz perform ers or dancers in brilliant col ors and at times in very tfubtle renderings. He has ex hibited widely in Europe, in cluding one-man shows at the mm I - The works of Frank El liott, young Portland artist new living in Australia, make up the current . exhibit at Rogue gallery. Oils, watered OTl, drawings and lithographs are all included in the exhibit. It will continue until June IS. American church in Rome, Italy, Gallery Malura, Mu nich, Germany, and the. The Elliott show will run through June 15. The gallery is located at 220 West Main street, Medford, and the hours are 12 to 4 daily, ex cept Monday. The Rogue Val ley Art association would ap preciate knowing of any Indi vidual who would offer to lit at the gallery during the late spring and summer months so that the gallery may be kept open on its regular schedule. Mrs. Pierce, the former Alma Lindsay, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay, SI4S Fish Hatchery road. Carnival Theater (s New Venture; Company Named Eugene-Most members of the resident and general com panies of the University of Oregon's Carnival Theatre, new summer venture, have been selected. i The theatre will present tight productions during the summer, including "Show Boat," My Three Angels," !Charley's Aunt," "Donny brook," "Little Mary Sun shine," "Dark of the Moon," "The Emperor's New Clothes" and "Monique." It will also present the variety acts to be (Wen each Wednesday night at Club Intime. Resident company members are semi-professional and are considered the "backbone" of the Theatre's productions. Kenneth Brown, Mrs. Ray Andrade and Mrs. John Kins attended a Parent Teacher association training session Tuesday eve ning at Kerby ichool cat eteria. - The women are newly-elected officers of the Kerby PTA and they received instruction from officers of the county council. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Starks. Family Church The baptismal rite was per formed by the Rev. Jonn Mc Murtrey. Present were two great grandmothers of the in fant, Mrs. Ernest Loughridge and Mrs. Thomas Pierce, Ana heim, Calif.; and the grand parents. Mr. and Mrs. George Pierce and Mr. ' and Mrs. James Lindsay. ' The child's parents were married in the little Wilder ville church and his grandpar ents, the Lindsays, were mar ried in the parsonage.
