NCAA Group Appi i a roves Meet Standards Eugene - (UPD - The NCAA track and field rules commit tee has approved the quali fying standards for 1062 meet here June 15-16, Oregon ath letic director Leo Harris an nounced Friday. The standards were set up tentatively last year and were approved by a mail ballot. They were adopted to cut down the number of competi tors and preliminary heats in the national meet. Meet officials said about 275 athletes have already met the qualifying standards and another 125 entries are ex pected. Oregon is the leader so far with 22 qualifiers, South ern California is second with 19, followed by San Jose State, Villanova and UCLA with 12 each. Oregon State has 11 who have met the standards.
