Cresswell won the champion-
ships in their classes here
Saturday in an Oregon state
high school track meet fea-
tunng the greatest half mile
race in the state's athletic his-
tory.
North Highlander, paced
by Dave Duebner, who set two
new standards, tabulated
44
points to capture the
Class1
A-1 trophy.
Cresswell, led by one-man
gang Denny Ellis, scored 40
points for the Class A-2 hon
- ors. Ellis won three events
and smashed records in two.
Grants Pass, power from
southern Oregon, was second
in Class A-1 with 39. Corval
lis was third with 35, while
Hiilsboro scored 30 and Grant
of Portland, North Salem and
South Eugene tied for fifth
with 24 points each.
After Cresswell in A-2 came
Deedsport with 38. St. Mary's
which moved Into A-2 class
this year after three consecu
tive State B titles captured
third with 32. Sierra Catholic
scored 23 and Oakridge 22,
shading a 2Bi tally by Myr
tle Creek.
