The boys set up a school sta tion under the direction of John McCormack, advisor, and will use a transmitter loaned by Dave Billingsley. Spring concert date has changed from June 1 to Mon day, May 28. Plans are now under way for the ninth grade assembly, "Blackouts," which will be presented May 29. More than 700 people at tended the evening perform ance of the Hedrick operetta, "Oh Susanna." presented by the music department. At the Future Homemakers recognition dinner at the high school recently, Randy Baker was awarded first place as best student in foods; Karen Kruiswyk was first in cloth ing; and Diane Mahren, as sec ond in clothing. Karol Kon schol was installed as histor ian of the high school FHA chapter for next year. The Hedrick orchestra elect ed officers for the 1962-63 school year recently. Officers are Terry Tibbutts, president; Signe Lusk, vice president; Jane Sanborn, secretary; Bel ly Jo Hicks, treasurer; John Drysdale, reporter; and Ce cilia Wilson, Cathy Collins, Bob Drysdale and Joy Hunte man, librarians. Marianne Raapke placed second in the Junior girls di vision of the national rifle shoot held in Roseburg re cently. An all school Physical Ed ucation show was held recent ly in the Hedrick auditorium. Each school was allotted five minutes in which to exhibit some phase of physical educa tion. A marching routine was presented by the Hedrick Stingers, and a wrestling dem onstration by the boys. Twelve Hedrick students from the ninth grade visited the Sacred Heart hospital on Career Day. The students were shown the various jobs connected with a hospital by candystripcrs, junior volun teers at the hospital. Students who participated in the tour were Patricia Valdez, Sidney Slcad, Jeannette Greeley, Sandra Bayliss, Joan Sexton, Connh Crow, Suzanne Brooks, Anne Donahue, Carol Kon schot, Sally Bratton, Mark Milne, and Dick Anderson. CP Junior High School By Andrea Roberts The students of Central Point Junior High elected officers for the 1062-63 school year recently. The officers elected were president, Ste ven Ryerson; vice president, Joe Pinkham; secretary, Geor gia Brittsan; sergeant at arms, Dan Corcoran: trophy custo dian, Steve Pinkham; Yell leaders. Sheila Beasly, Jo Anne Hamilton, Michelle Mo Calvy and Kathy Neal. The eighth erode had a visitation day at Crater High school recently. Mr. Lamb and Mr. Straus visited the Junior High and talked with the students about courses offered at Cra ter next year. The adminis trators gave each person a Parent Handbook explaining student life at Crater. The eighth grade gradua tion will be held June 6 in the gymnasium. The motto is 'All the flowers of all the tomor rows are In the seeds to day." Colors are blue and write and the flower is "the only rose." A talent show will be held May 25. Talent will be select ed from students who enter auditions.
