provide the records, as re
quested, at Tuesday's second

subpoena was served upon
him in the hearing room by
committee counsel Joseph F.
Soviero.
Alfaro claimed he was un
able to contact his tax ac
countant. Paret died on April 2 from
ring injuries suffered at Mad
ison Square Garden on March
24 when knocked out and de
prived of his welterweight
title by Emile Griffith.
Soviero declared, "We want
to know what happened to the
S260.000 Paret earned be
tween 1958 and 19B2."
Assemblyman Hayward H.
Plumadore of Saranac Lake,
N. Y., committee chairman,
said: "We must have those
records to show whether Al
faro is indeed the benevolent
patron of fighters who claims
he never made any money out
of boxers until Paret became
champion."
During his interrogation
about Paret's money, Alfaro
said he understood Benny had
taken $35,000 in cash with
him to Miami, Fla., after the
fight with Gene Fullmer at
Las Vegas, Nev., last Dec. 9.
