Miss Jewett is a student at Oregon State university, Corvallis, and a member of Delta Zela sorority. She made known the engagement news at her sorority house with a tradt tional candle lighting ci mony. Miss Jewett is a grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H, P. Jewett, Crown street, Cen tral Point, and Mr. and Mrs C. C. Clemens, 1336 Queen Anne avenue, Medford. Mr. Elkins is with the United Stales Air Force and Is stationed in Tucson, Ariz, No date has been set for the wedding. Patricia Ann Sapi Engagement Is Announced By Klamath Couple Mr. and Mrs. Arnold J. Sept, 2640 Eberlin avenue, Klamath Falls, announce the engagement of their daughter, Patricia Ann Sept, to Donald William Eck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis G. Eck, 203 North Peach street, Medford. Miss Sept, a Klamath Union High school graduate, Is a jun ior in elementary education at Southern Oregon college. She also is vice president of Stu dent Oregon Education associ ation and secretary to Dr. Chester Squire, professor at the college. The bridegroom-elect is a Medford High school graduate and attended the University of Oregon. He was a military guided missile instructor for the Seventh Army and NATO in Europe. At the present time he is a senior at Southern Or egon college in elementary ed ucation and Is student teach ing at Washington school in Medford. No wedding date has been set. Betrothal Told In Rogue River Rogue River - Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gates, Rogue River, announce the engagement of their daughter, Judith Elaine, to Leroy Slanakcr, son of Mrs. Hazel Slanakcr, O'Brien, Ore. Miss Gates Is a junior at Rogue River High school. Mr. Slanakcr is employed by Ben nett J. and Sons, logging con tractors. No date has been set for the wedding. Eugene Concert Hour Announced Eugene - Eugene Civic Mu sic association announced to day that the concert of the Philadelphia orchestra set for Sunday, May 27, in Eugene, will be at 2:30 p.m. daylight lime, or 1:30 p.m. standard time. Eugene Ormondy con ducts the Philadelphia orches tra. This is the last concert of the season for the Eugene association. From Washington t h e travelers went to New Jers y and Con necticut En route hac k to the West coast, they stopped in Kansas City and spent some Sandra D latin Jawatt Many Programs Presented In New York by Pianist Miss Sonja Pete.-snn, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Emit Peterson, 2574 Jacksonville highway, was featured piano soloist May 18 at Columbia university In New York City. The program Is one of a se ries in Bard hall at the Uni versity's College of Medicine. Miss Peterson has appeared in several programs this year in New York, bne has twice, In November and April, given recitals on Radio Station W-NYC on the sta tion's "Keyboard Master" series. Last February Miss Peter son and Dana Dixon, pianist from North Carolina, were se lected by Juilliard School of Music, to perform the rarely heard "Grand Duo," for four hands, by Franz Schubert. This broadcast was heard over FM station W-FUV in New York City. In March, Miss Peterson presented her graduation re cital at Juilliard school and in April she gave a series of pro grams in upstate New York. Miss Petersons program at the Columbia university re- ital included "English Suite No. 6 in D Minor" by J. S. Medford Senior Is Named Scholar Miss Jill Barnes, 2210 Hill yest road, Medford, who will ente Wellesley college, Wel lesley, Mas., as a freshman in the fall, has been honored by the college Ijy being desig nated as a Pendleton scholar. She is the daughter of Mrs. Margaret Powers Barnes and is a senior at Medford High school. Miss Barnes is one of six Pendleton scholars select ed from the Far West region. By naming Pendleton schol ars, Wellesley is publicly hon oring a very small number of entering students with out standing credentials as prom. ising scholars. The wedding is planned for Friday, May 25 in the First Presbyterian church in Med ford. Decorations for the shower were in tones of pink and red. The hostess was assisted by Mrs. Edwin Biggs. Among guests who attended were the bride-elect's mother and her fiance's mother and also his grandmother, Mrs. Nettie Brodhead. Miss Susan Dill Pledged by Group Portland - Miss Susan Dill, Medford, was tapped by the sophomore women's honorary, Sacajawcans, of Lewis and Clark College during an awards presentation in con junction with the May Fete activities. Miss Dill was graduated from Albany High school in 1961 where she was a member of National Honor society, Booster club. National Busi ness Leaders and National Thespian society. Mr. Louis is a graduate of Stanford university where he received his bachelor's degree and later received his master's degree from Stanford's grad uate school of business. Schultz, Rogue River, announce the engagement of their daughter, Nelda Rose, to James Lefler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lefler, Jerome Prairie. Ashland-Past Matrons club of the Alpha chapter, Order of the Eastern Star will be the host group at a meeting of valley past matrons clubs scheduled for Wednesday, May 23 in the Ashland Ma sonic temple. Guests will be from the Adarel, Reamcs and Ncvita clubs. A no host luncheon will precede the meeting at 12 noon and entertainment will be provided during the after noon. She will serve the remaining year of the two-year term to which Mrs. James Armpriest, Salem, was elected, the Salem woman having resigned. Mrs. Littrell, president of the Jackson county unit of the Oregon Federation, has been on the federation board of trustees. The newly named officer and the federation president, Mrs. Joseph Y.
