o Gold Hill Group Home From Trip Gold Hill - Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gascon, Arthur Gas con and Mrs. George Dorman have returned to their homes here after a two weeks visit with relatives in California and pleasure trip to places of interest in Mexico and Mon tana. At Mount Clair they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Linsley Dotson and family. In El Monte they visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burnett and at Long Beach with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stone and daughter Dee Lores. Mrs. Marrs Gibbons and Mrs. Mary Trout scored 303 points to lead winners in the women's tournament, in which 12 tables of players participated. Second was taken by Mrs. C. M. Leading the men in the sec ond tournament were Chester Reavis and Walter Ensminger, who scored 188 points, and George Bratton and Richard Finnell were second with 170. Tieing for third and fourth were George Rode and his partner, George Polskl, and Paul A. Hatton and Ralph Meegan, Ashland, both pairs scoring 169V4 points. Robert Dickey and Roy Pruitt took fifth with 169. Seven tables of players took part. Second session winners among the men were Mr. Ens minger and Mr. Reavis, first, 102; Mr. Dickey and Mr. Pruitt, second, 96V4; D. S. Brook and Clarence Crews, Grants Pass, third, 88; Mr. Finnell and Mr. . Bratton, fourth, 8i. First session winners for both tournaments had been announced previously. At the end of Tuesday's games, Mrs. Dolph Phipps and Mrs. Gibbons served refresh ments. A group of players plan to go to Paradise, Calif., this week end for a sectional tour nament and next Tuesday the club will resume normal play. The bi-monthly ' winners' game is planned at Grants Pass Saturday, May 19. These games alternate between Medford and Grants Pass. May Musicale To Be Sunday A group of the piano stu dents of Roberta Ward Bebb will be presented In a May Musicale Sunday, May 20, at 3 o'clock at the residence studio of Mrs. Ebb, 528 South Grape street. Participating will be Carole Kubalek, Cheryl Eddy, Gail Gladfelter, Sheryl Landing, Helen Harper, Linda Beatty and Anna Jean Beardslee. Interested friends of the students are welcome to attend. Alpha Lambda chapter of Epiilon Sigma Alpha sorority recently gave a tea at Girls Community club to observe the group's founding and pictured during the event are Mrs. Lyman Smith, retiring chapter president, and Mrs. Delbert Cantrall. the new president. Beta Sigma Phi chapters of the area and the two newer chapters of Epiilon Sigma Alpha were guests for the event. Students Will Take Part in Dance Concert When Marylhurst college presents Its first full-length dance concert tonight, the staging will be directed by Miss Carole Doyle, a freshman student, arid one of the per formers will be Miss Lynne Parsons, a sophomore student, both from Medford. The concert, directed by Miss Cornelia Cerf, instructor of modern dance, will feature the advanced Marylhurst Dance group assisted by stu dents of the elementary class. The choreography is entirely by the student dancers except for the opening number. Miss Parsons will perform with four classmates in an original folk dance which they have composed to an American air. Golden Circle Elects Officers Gold Hill - Mrs. Edna Tracy was elected president of Golden Circle, women's group of the Gold Hill Chris tian church. Others elected were Mrs. Nellie Beaumont, vice-president; Mrs. Leonard Andrews, secretary-treasurer; and Miss Jean Cunningham, missionary chairman. Mrs. Bessie Henderson was appoint ed to serve as rememberance secretary. Mrs. Alfred Castillo was hostess for the group at her home in Medford May 14. The theme of the tea, "Getting to Know You", was used in the decorations, in the name tags which were tinv yenow roses and music notes, in the guest book and table centerpiece. Guests were members of Beta Sigma Phi chapters in the valley, of Delta Omega and Nu chapters of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, and Mrs. Bren H. Starcher. In charge of the guest book were Mrs. Richard Harrison and Mrs. William Riggert, as sisted by Mrs. Delbert Cant rall, new president of the chapter. Mrs. Robert Bennett. Mrs. James Benson, Mrs. William Verstegen and Miss Robin Wyatt were the refreshment committee. Pouring were Mrs, Davis Young and Mrs. Robert Rae, assisted by Mrs. Chester Peterson and Mrs. Willie Fischer. All members of Alpha L.ambda served as hostesses. Mistress of ceremonies for a program was Mrs. Fischer. The invocation was given by Mrs. Jack Huston and the wel. come by Mrs. Lyman Smith; retiring chapter president! Moir, and Mrs. John D. Watklns. Mrs. Fischer sang "Getting to Know You" accompanied by Mrs. Delbert Cantrall and members and guests joined in the singing. A question and answer pe riod was conducted for all chapters represented. Scrap books from Alapha Lambda and Delta Omega were on display. Mrs. Fischer is second vice president and Mrs. Shangle, is educational director, of the state chapter. Pastor Leaves Wilderville - The Rev. John McMurtrey of the T. L. Jones Memorial church and the Emanuel church of Cave Junc tion has left for Missouri to visit his mother who will ob serve her 83rd birthday an niversary this year. Williams PTA Installations . Are Conducted Williams Installation of officers was held in conjunc tion with the final meeting of the school term, by the Wil liams Parent Teacher associa tion, May 9, at the Williams elementary school. Mrs. Inez Blanchard, in stalling officer conducted the ceremonies while Mrs. Perry Roundtree was installed presi dent, Mrs. Mark Saunders, vice president, Mrs. Robert Rippee, secretary. Mrs. Ross Roundtree took the oath of of fice of treasurer as a proxy for Mrs. Robert Thomas. The new officers, past offi cers, standing committee chairmen and women teach ers were persented corsages by Mrs. Harry Fischer, retir ing president. Retiring officers, besides Mrs. Fischer, were, Mrs. Saunders, vice president, Mrs. Howard Collins, treasurer, and Mrs. Robert Rippee, sec retary. Standing committee chairmen present were Mrs. Aaron Morrison, membership and Mrs. Russell Bigelow, hospitality. Mrs. Herbert Beard, health chairman, could not attend. She is confined to the Oakland, Calif., Navy hospital. Move-up day for classes first through fifth and a pre school mothers' tea were planned and scheduled for May 28. Next year's first graders will attend school, ar riving on the regularly sched uled bus in the morning and will be taken home by their mothers, preceding the one o'clock tea, in their honor. State and county applications and regulations for first grade entry will be discussed and available at this time. Mrs, Aaron Morrison and Mrs. James Tompkins, first grade room mothers and Mrs. West, first grade teacher, are in charge of the program. There are a reported 15 pos sible entrants of this class at the present time. Mrs. Blanchard was an nounced as the principal teacher of Williams elemen tary school for next year by Mrs. Fischer, who also told of the election of Ross Round tree to the local school board for a three year. term. Refreshments were served by the retiring executive board members. 1 Riverside Bridge Club Scores Told Thirty-four players compet ed in the May 16 session of the Riverside Bridge club, Winning first place in the north-south position were Mrs. Berg Marten and Paul A. Hat ton, who scored 114V4 points. In second place were Mrs. F. R. Baker and Mrs. Rich ard Milestone, with 111 points; in third were Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Crews, 110V4 points, and fourth were Mrs. John Dougherty and Mrs. R. T. Jones, 95 points. The east-west winners were first, Mrs. Alto Pruitt and Roy Pruitt, 1)9 points; second, Mrs. M. W.
