12 B Veterinary Hospital Said Broken Into Siskiyou Veterinary hospi tal, 100 Stewart ave.. Med ford, was broken into Monday night, according to city po lice. Police said entry was gain ed through a window. A re frigerator containing veteri nary medicines was opened and some of the p-edicine dropped on the floor. No oth er damage was reported, po lice said. Family Council Harry I. - Despite the past, I'd like to invite my brothers to my daughter's wedding. Molly I. -How can he lower himself, after they've treated him like dirt? Harry I, - Having done my brothers nothing but good all rny life, and getting back nothing but evil, I'm about to invite, them to my only child's wedding and my wife says no. I came to America from Europe in 1933. Despite the Depression, I got a job and was able to send for one brother in 1934, the other in 1936. My brothers started a textile business and prosper ed. But in 1940 when I need ed a loan of $1,300 to purchase a share in a stationery store, they turned me down. Last year they informed me that since our parents weren't well, each son should con tribute $25 a week and that, since we lived nearest, my wife should care for the folks four times a week. We could not comply. My parents died. There's been a complete : estrangement since then. But now there s to be wedding and Id like my brothers there. . Molly I. - How can Harry be so weak? Where's his pride? If he wants his two ritzy brothers around for the sake of the presents, we can get along without their checks. Those fellows have certain ly not acted like brothers. I'll never forget 1940. Here they were both shoveling in their profits, but when Harry asked one for $1,800 he was told, "No. I Just bought a new home and I have no money to lend." Brother No. 2 asked for collateral as security. Not having collateral, Harry couldn't get the loan and had to let a wonderful chance slip way. They and their snobbish wives have hurt us many other times. He's forgetting that they didn't show up when he was installed as a lodge officer. And lately we're not even on speaking terms. Some day someone should ask them where they'd be today if Harry hadn't rescued them from the holo caust in Europe. But let's skip them from the wedding. Th Council: Harry's Im- mulse to turn the other check 1 doesn't mark him as a weak ling, Molly. His reasoning resembles that of the man who continued saying "good morning" to a neighbor, de spite the lattcr's snarl in re turn. To a questioning friend he explained, "I'm not going to let his manners dictate what mine should be. He can be a boor if he wishes. I in tend to be a gentleman." Similarly, Harry wishes to operate like a good brother and refuses to stop acting like one merely because he has poor material to work with. He feels his brothers' be havior is a matter for them and their conscience, not for him. We agree with Harry that Ms kin should be asked lo come to the Joyous celebra tion. If they decline - well, Molly will be happy. If they accept, Harry will be happy, una Molly will be philosophic-, ally mellow, we trust. I But. lacking any testimony i from the brothers themselves, we wonder how many times In the past almost-30 years Harry has raked up the hot j coals of 1933, 1934, 1036 and 1940. Harping can become annoying. Okay. Harry. You j did a great thing bringing the j family over, rescuing them ' from disaster. But then what? How much of them do you own? What limits are there to your claim on them? How much of their lives are their own. to plan and live the way they'd like, without your okay? We get the Impression that you may have hammered away at these two brothers, at every chance you got, with reiterations of how much you did for them. Chances are. if they came to the U.S.A. first, they'd have done the same for you. Stop, and make Molly slop, bringing It up. Invite your brothers. The present - not the presents -may usher In a better, more natural relationship.
