THUBSDAY. MAY 10. 1962 MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFORD. OREGON LU(unU MAIL imsunt;, Mtlt UHU, OREGON MAY It. MU Pendleton Doctor Engages in Feud Pendleton- (UPD -A contro versy between a prominent Pendleton physician and the new Community Memorial Hospital here hat broken into the open. Dr. Louis J. Feves, ormcr president of the Oregon State Medical Society, said he had been denied a permit to prac tice medicine at the hospital. Dr. Feves said the denial was made on improper grounds without a hearing and was contrary to the hos pital's bylaws. He said he re ceived the denial in a letter written by Hospital Adminis trator S. O. Kivle which said "your application will not be approved at this time because of your public attitude ana action regarding our commun ity hospital." Accusations Said Falst Dr. Feves denied any iirv proper action toward the hos pital. He said accusation that he had told patients not to patronize the community hos pital were false. Dr. Feves said he had been Invited to a May meeting of the hospital board if he cared to "show cause why this ac tion should be reconsidered. He said he would not attend the meeting and as far as he was concerned it meant he was being denied the permit. Door Still Open A spokesman for the hos pital board said the door was still open for Dr. Feves to apply. He said Dr. Feves had been given the same oppor tunity as every other doctor in the area to sign an ap plication form to receive a staff permit. The spokesman said Dr. Feves refused initially to sign the form but did ask for one at a later dale. He said the hospital board felt it wise to meet with Dr. Feves to try to rejo 1 v e their differences which was why he was in vited to the May 14 meeting.
