Stjrho fot Medtord, Ort. mm mm m m ktir-p ilk Fw-in J ; Regional Roundup By Cleve Twitched Regional Editor Southern Oregon is one of the few places left in the United States where one is likely to see two real estate advertisements like this side by side; 1. "8 acres, 2 bed room house, $13,000" and 2. "160 acres. 3 bedroom house, $13,000." Yes, that's right 20 times as niuch land and an extra bedr.om for the same price I guess the best way to buy land around here is to get either a tiny chunk or a huge estate. Genevieve Briggs of Wild ervillc says spring has sprung for sure over there because the surveyors are out along the Redwood highway. "But don't get excited," she says. "This is the 16th, or is it the 17th, year they have sur veyed the darn thing and we still have a dead man's curve at Wilderville and a few more fancy ones that deal us a bad time In the winter months. One thing for sure it isn't dull driving. As we drive along we wonder if ihe folks in the car ahead are drunk or sober as they sway from one side to the other." 1.A it A State Senator, R 1 11 is J iiWaVaVwi sf hkl i Will Odd HiR Community Center Gold Hill - FSlph A. Gilbert A. Mack, prin cipal of Patrick and Hanby Elementary schools was named by the group to assist James. The need for a community center building that could be used as a youth center for various activities as well as a meeting place for adult and youth organizations was dis cussed at length. The need for adult leadership in some groups that are already es tablished for boys and girls was pointed out. Although there was no definite action, it was decided that an investigation will be made to determine whether or not it will be possible to set up a proposed malt shop es tablishment for the young people in Gold Hill. A report will be given on Friday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. when another planning meet ing will be held. Meeting place will be announced at a later date due to the regular library hours on that night which makes it impossible for the group to meet at the li brary.
