points to edge Grants Pass
. by one for the honors.

the road to defeat with a sol
id right smash to the jaw. He
then hammered him into a
neutral corner and dropped
him for a three count with a
left-right combination.
Marquez got up to meet
more battering ram shorts and
went down in the same neu
tral corner from a vicious
left hook. Referee Fred Apos-
toli did not even start a count
but instead lifted the hand
of the champion.
If was the 42nd win with
out defeat as a professional
for Jofre. It was also his 32nd
knockout and 12th in a row.
He has fought three draws.
Marquez and his co-mana
ger, Shig Takahashi, both
complained that the fight
should not have been stopped.
"I was not hurt," Said Mar
quez, whose record now reads
19-8-1. "I was caught off bal
ance both times and decided

club. Bob Dampsey has a 198
mark among the Medford
players who have bowled the
