Yreka picked up its tri
umph on the strength of two
runs in the fifth inning which
overcame a 2 to 1 Ashland
edge. They were tallied on a
base on balls, a fielder's
option a dropped fly ball in
center field and a single by

The Miners got their first
run in the third inning on a

Today's game was schedul
ed at Spokane to make up,
tor Friday's contest, postpon-1
ed due to rain. Portland will
play at Salt Lake and San !
Diego will be at Tacoma in
the only other games, both
makeups, set for today.
The league - leading Salt
Lake Bees split their double
header with Portland !)-2' and
1-3 Sunday and San Diego
split wilh Tacoma, 3-6 and .'1-2.
In a single game at Vancou
ver Sunday, Hawaii toppled
the Mountics, 5-2.
Three Homers
Seattle collected three home
runs in their doubleheader at
Spokane. Curt Jensen hit a
3fa"0-xoot homer in the first
game to break a 1-1 tic at the
start of the eighth, inning.
Stew MacDonald scored on
Paul Smith's single and a Spo
kane error allowed Dave
Mann to come home to cinch
the Rainier victory.
In the second game, Tom
Umphletl and Billy Harrell
hit solo homers for Seattle
as Elmer Singleton pitched a
seven - hitter. The Rainiers
jumped to an early lead with
five runs in the first inning.
At Salt Lake, Dale Willis
of Port land allowed only two
hits in the nightcap and struck
out 10 Salt Lake bailors. The
Beavers got to Bee lefthander
Ron Gcorger for eight hits

lead the way.
The Bees jumped on Port
land pitching for four home
runs, two by Jack Kubiszyn
