Order of Job's Daughters in Portland, Miss Dcnna Primmer, Queen of Bethel 3, recently present ed a check for S896.23 to Dr. E. E. Osgood, head of the ex perimental medicine division for leukemia research at the University of Oregon Medical school. Mrs. William K. Suit, Mcd ford, grand guardian of the order, and Cecil Brown, Port land, associa.e gr-nd guar dian, participated in the pres entation. During the pat eight years, total of S6.681.37 has been donated to this fund from the annual October statewide can dy sale to purchase equip ment in the research labora tory, soon to be moved to the Medical Research building now under construction. Orig inally this Job's T ughters Fund was given in memory of Mr. Brown's daughter, Dan elle. a victim of leukemia in 1954. n equal amount of $6,750 also has been donated from proceeds of the candy sale for other philanthropic projects, namely the support of two overseas youngsters through Save the Children Federation and scholarships to Oregon bethel girls. Mrs. Bloss plans to remain in the valley until June. Babies travel Three Sisters Time First in Three sisters are together this month for the first time in 41 years. In Medford to vis it her two sisters, is Mrs. George (Rose) Bloss, Union City, N.J. She is visiting Mrs. Earl Wallace, 832 Wabash street, and Mrs. Daniel Reams, Port land avenue, both Medford. The three sisters, whose maid en name is Koch, are from Koblenz, Germany. Mrs. Wal lace moved to Grants Pass in April, 1921 and Mrs. Reams to Spokane in February, 1923. Mrs. Bloss, whose late hus band was a retired master ser geant in the U. S. Army, first came to the United States in 1935, returning later to Ger many with her husband and in 1959 returned to make her home in Union City. This will be tne lasi one for the current school year. School will be dismissed at p.m. allowing parents the opportunity to visit their chil dren's rooms and talk with their teachers. Installation of officers will be conducted by Mrs. Theron Boyd, president of the unit last year. It was unanimously voted at the previous meeting to retain the present officers for another year. They are Mrs. George Barnum, presi dent; Mrs. Clyde Chriss, vice- president; Mrs. Marvin Hedges, secretary; and Mrs. Glenn Jerdcn, treasurer. Mrs. Ruth Kaye will give a talk and demonstration on SRA Reading technic ties per taining to the fifth and sixth grade level. The school or chestra will furnish the mu sical entertainment. The portable television set presented to the school at the last meeting will be on dis play for those wishing to see one of the gifts given by the unit. Refreshments will be served by mothers of children in the first grade. Child care for pre school children will be avail able in Room 8. Master Point Play Announced The May master point play for Medford Duplicate Bridge club members is to be held I Tuesday evening, May 1, of-j ficers have announced. The two following Tuesday ses- j sions win De me iien s ana Women's pairs club champion ship tournament, both events being played at the same time. Each session will open at 7:30 p.m. At the April 24 regular ses sion, 12 tables were in play. Richard Finnell and Leland Clark took first place in the north - south position with 156'i points. Mrs. George Dean and Mrs. Dolph Phipps were second with 149 points, and taking third were Mrs. Dale Forncrook and Mrs Richard Milestone. 141 points. Mrs. Clark and George Rode placed fourth with 138' 2 points. In the east-west position Dr. and Mrs. C. M. Durland of Grants Pass won first place by scoring 154 points. Second place went to Berg Marten and Roy Pruitt. with 150 points: third place was won bv Robert Dickey and Frank Dolenshek for 148 points, and fourth place was taken by Mr and Mrs. B L. Sanderson with 1 35 1 2 points. Review of Book Slated for Club Mrs. Wilma Kreb and Mrs. Hazel E. Flurry will give the program for Wednesday Studv club. Doty will be hott er. I Meet For 4 1 Years come West in July. Mr. and Mrs. Koch plan to visit the Se attle World's fair prior to vis iting in the valley. Served in Germany Mr. Bloss, Mr. Wallace and Mr. Reams all served with the U.S. Army occupational forces in Mctternick, Germany, fol lowing World War I. The Reams made their home in Los Angeles prior to moving to Medford last year, making their home on Portland ave nue. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace, who make their home at 832 Wa bash street, have lived here for 22 years. Since Mrs. Bloss arrived in the valley she has celebrated her 61st birthday, April 19, and the group celebrated Mr. Reams' 75th birthday. They also attended a dinner in hon or of Mr. and Mrs. Harold E Wallace, 1965 Sunset drive, on their 40th wedding anniver sary. Harold Wallace is a brother of Earl Wallace. Some 18 persons attended. Mrs. Bloss plans to remain in the valley until June. The area under Mother, Daughters To Exhibit A Medford mother and her two daughters will hold a unique mother-daughters art show in Astoria during May. Mrs. Ronald R. (Gail) Caperna and daughters, Susan, 14, and Shawn, 13, 1024 Ingrid street, will exhibit their paintings in a show sponsored by the Pa cific Art guild. Mrs. Caperna belonged to the guild when the family lived in Astoria. The Misses Susan and Shawn are students at St. Mary's school. Theme of the show will be, "A Painting is a Person, Place or Tiling." Miss Susan Caperna will furnish paintings of persons which she does in pastels and caseins. She will exhibit 20 pictures and her subjects are of children in both early day and modern day dress. Mrs. Caperna has done "the places" and her work is in water colors. Included are coastal, valley and harbor scenes, as well as others of the woods, California points, churches and older homes. She will show 18 pictures. Miss Shawn Caperna has painted "things," mainly ani mals and birds. All work also In oils, but none will be exhibited in this showing.
