Taylor to investigate a pub
lished report the actress had
been treated in a Rome hos
pital lor an overdose of sleep
ing pills.
Brigadier Antonio Caiazzo,
chief of the carabinieri (na
tional police) precinct, which
includes Miss Taylor's S3.000-a-month
villa on the old Ap
pian Way just outside Rome,
spent about an hour at her
residence.
"We have come to investi
gate this matter about what
really happened to Miss Tay
lor," Caiazzo said. "A news
paper this morning claims
Miss Taylor drove back to
Rome Monday night and Bur
ton returned the following
day. They apparently have
not seen each other since then,
although their villas are only
a few hundred yards apart.
