They said the couple, who had been staying at a pink bungalow near the resort of Porto Santo Stafano since Sat urday, had argued bitterly. Miss Taylor, who has the week off from work on the film "Cleopatra," left Porto Santo Stefano late Monday night and drove 100 miles to her Roman villa. Burton, 36, stayed on until this morning, when he too packed up and came back to Rome. Friends indicated that the quarrel dealt with Burton's possible divorce from his wife, Sybil. They gave no details except to say Miss Taylor was "extremely angry." Knit-Wits The latest meeting of the Applegate Knit-WiU 4-H club was held Wednesday, April 11. The secretary read the minutes of the previous meet ing and Sally Herriott and Susan James led in the salutes to the American and 4-H flags. For the roll call we named good color combinations. Alicia Elmore gave a dem onstration on cable stitch for our community service project. Those who had not already done so were asked to bring an article of cloth ing for the Applegate Church Missionary society. The busi ness meeting was adjourned Duncan Campaign Headquarters Open A group of supporters and volunteer workers Saturday attended the opening of cam paign headquarters for Rob ert B. Duncan, candidate for the Democratic nomination for Congress for the 4th dis trict, at 311 East Main st. Duncan, who has been elected to the Oregon House of Representatives from Jack son county for the past six years, and has served as Speaker of the House for the past two sessions, commented that "volunteer workers on a local county level were the real framcrs of the basic poli cies and programs of the state and federal government." Mrs. Mary Kelly, Mcdford, and Glenn Stadler, Eugene, are co-chairmen of the cam paign for the district. James Redden and Mrs. Dee Newton are Duncan's campaign man agers In Jackson county. BACHELORS WIN Ampthill, England - IUPI) - Three bachelors took win, place and show Monday in a four-mile baby carriage race. Passengers in the prams were three other bachelors. Thumble Fingan The Thumble Fingers 4-H club met at the home of our leader Monday, April 2. We had a short business meeting and then adjourned. We measured and sewed the plackets in our skirts. Saddl.-Lii.s The regular meeting of the 4-H Rogue Saddle-lites horse club was held recently at the home of the leader, Gail Ham mond. President Gary Christensen brought the meeting to order and Sue Griffin led the 4-H pledge. Secretary Peg Hilton read roll call, gave the min utes of the last meeting and gave the treasurer's report. The club then had new business and planned a break fast ride for April 28. Then they had old business. New members are Jerrilee Ramos and Sue Driskell.
