smasher was sophomore Steve
Toews who ran the half-mile
in 1:58.7. This time also eclip
sed the Medford school mark
of 1:59.1 set several years ago
by Bilbee Lane.

Ted Snapp got two hits for
three times at bat and Dennis

day. The Comets won the open

conference baseball Saturday
by tipping the Grizzlies 4 to 2.
The tussle gave each a 2-2
record in the loop.
Ashland won the non-league
second tangle 1 to 0.
KF picked up three of its
runs in the fifth inning of the
starter. There was a walk, two
errors, squeeze bunts by Mike
Kitching and Sherm Allen
and singles by Rick Johnson
and Smith.

Bob King, chucking for
Ashland, permitted only two
hits but the Pelicans took ad
vantage of four walks and a
hit batter and five Ashland
misplays. King struck out
