Chairman Ferd Jonas commented on the Gov ernor'i veto of SB 32, the length of the current legisla tive session-116 days to date - which la the second longest on record. He reported that the joint taxation committee is still working on the income tax reduction bill, and that the sales tax bill Is in the House hopper at present. On the education committee, Mrs. Ferd Jones noted that $128 million has been set aside for schools for the next .two years.. , : Grover Kelly resigned from the ways and means commit tee, and Mrs. Kelly was ap pointed in his place.. Home Economics . Committee Chair man -Bertha. Potter reported a good attendance at the last meeting.- Roads committee reported market roads in the area need work done on them. Walker reported that t h e flood control and soli conser vation association have had r representatives in Washington i1 D. C.(. contacting the govern ! ment agencies involved, such '' as the bureau of reclamation, : Corps of Army Engineers and the bureau ot fish and wild life. Eagle Point Grange : There were 13 Granges rep resented at the' visitation at the Eagle Point Grange re cently, : Masters escorted to the mas ter's station were Anna Scott of the Upper Applegate, Ce cil Kee of Shady Cove, H. A. Bishop of Upper Rogue, Orie Moor of Roxy Ann, Lloyd Lecy ' of Phoenix, Charles Moorehouse of Central Point, Jack Bierma of Griffin Creek, Ben Fulton of Butte Falls, and Roscoe Roberts, county depu ty and insurance agent. Vis itors from out of the county were Mr. and Mrs. King of the Fruitdale Grange in Jo sephine county. Committee reports were heard from Ed Kunkel and Verne Matthews on agricul ture, C. C. Hoover on commu nity service, Dewey Babcock on finance, Mrs. Lester Wertz on home economics, Mrs. Lil lian Force on reception, and Roscoe Roberts on insurance. It was voted to serve din ner to those boys who were here from Oregon State uni versity on a field trip Friday evening, May 19. During the lecturer'! pro gram, Hoover read some of the letters received from school children thanking the Grange for trees. A garden scene pantomime was enacted by Percy Scobie and Lillian Force and narrated by Mrs. Percy Scobit, a report on edu cation was given by C. F. Davies. a same involving the master's and their wives was played and a skit was put on by Mrs. Lester Wertz, Dewey Babcock and Cliff Moore.' Ac cordion music was played dur ing the refreshment hour by Charles Ansullml. The next visitations were announced for the Lake Creek Grange May 12 and at Shady Cove May 20. It was announced that Roxy Ann would put on the third and fourth degrees May 13 and that the 'Pomona Grange would exemplify the fifth de gree at the Central Point Grange all May 24.
