meet matching th top crews
of this area.
The meet will get underway
at 1 p.m.

son had hoped to arrange a
night contest.
' A novice division will be
run along with the varsity
races on Saturday.
"I think the kids are ready,"
Benson reported concerning
the Black Tornado gang. The
mentor feels that the meet
' should be a close one and that
. his crew has a good chance
to spill the Cavemen, if they
perform up to capabilities.
He's hoping for a break in the
weather to -bolster Tornado
chances.
Walt Ayres, hurdler who
has been hobbled by a pulled
muscle is back in action with
the Medford's but Scott Eaton,
troubled by a pulled groin
muscle is under a doctor's
care and . his availability is
"debatable."
Othr Meets
Saturday will be a big day
in prep track for the area.
The Rogue league and sub
district 6 A-2 meet is set for
the college oval at Ashland
and St. Mary's will go to
Klamath Falls to defend its
District 5B laurels against
Klamath county schools. The

Kart Races
Karts, the midget speed
sters large enough for only
driver and engine will be
going at it hot and, heavy this
Sunday at the Medford Kart
Raceway, south of Medford
off Hwy. 99.
Officials of the Medford
Go-Kart club, who sponsor
the races, have announced
that a new class of competi
tion will be seen for the first
time this Sunday. A special
class has been established for
contestants who have West
Bend and other similar pow
ered cars. They will compete
against each other and not
against the faster machines of
the B class.
Entries are expected from
throughout the Rogue valley
and as far north as Tri-City.
Keen contention is expected
in all classes as drivers strive
to gain every last bit of
speed .: from their . powerful
pint-sized speedsters.
Time trials are slated to be
gin at noon followed by heat
and trophy races at 2 p.m.
Trophies will go to all win
ners. The public is invited to
view the races and a conces
sion stand will be in operation.
Rogue meet will determine
subdistrict participants in the
full district meet the follow
ing week end.
. Klamath Falls and Crater
have a varsity and ninth grade
track meet at Central Point
also on Saturday.
Field event finals will be
run off in the morning in the
Rogue meet. Preliminaries in
the dash and hurdle races are
scheduled for morning with
all race finals in the after
noon. Morning events begin
at 10 o'clock and afternoon ac
tion at 1:30 o'clock. Partici
pants are Phoenix, Rogue Riv
er, Eagle Point, Illinois Val
ley, Henley and Lakeview.

morning for Corvallis to take
part In the state prep tennis
tournament.
The delegation included
Medford's three district
champs in boys' tennis and a
girls' team of eight members.

to have been held here last
week end but no one entered
