It put over four markers each in the second and fourth frames. Eagle Point was limited to four safe swats, all off start' ' ing chucker Steve Ray over the first three innings. Don Anderson, Gary Mil ler, Ken Ford and Ray for Medford and Don Charley for the Eagles each had two hits, Ford homered, Ray doubled and tripled and Miller hit ' three-baser. Then Ed Laperl singled and Duane Glenndenlng doubled in the eighth. They were stranded on base when Roberts struck out the next three batters. Roberts registered three more strikeouts in the ninth. He finished with 16 strike outs, i The Braves big inning was the eighth. Willard Titus, Roberts, Larry Graves and Sidney Griffin all hit singles and Dave Walker belted a dou ble. Six runs crossed the plate in the inning. Oregon Tech Nicks SOC Raiders 11-10 Klamath Falls -Oregon Technical institute pulled into a second place tie with South ern Oregon yesterday by nick ing the Raiders 11 to 10 in a wild Oregon Collegiate con ference baseball tangle. Hurler Max McKibbon al lowed SOC only one hit over the first 8 23 Innings and OTI led 9 to 0 after four cantos. In the sixth inning McKib bon walked two men and John Cook for the Ashland school hit a two-run double. Then the Red Raiders cut the differ ence to 9 to 7 with five runs in the seventh panel on two hits, four errors and a sacri' flee fly. Milligan Wins Go-Karr Duel Medford Kart skippers made almost a clean sweep of all events In Sunday's go kart races held south of the county fairgrounds in Med ford. The affair was sponsor ed by the Medford Go-Kart club. The keenest competition was in tne A-junior ciass where John Skinner and Larry Milligan continued their duel for top honors. Af ter the smoke had cleared Milligan emerged victor. Crouchtr Wlni Laurels in the A -senior class went to Gary Croucher. He 'edged fellow club mem ber Chuck Hewitt. Medford's Doug Klmmons had a real battle on his hands before he finally -edged Jim Lunsford from Prospect for the trophy in B-super divi sion. Lunsford held the lead in one heat race for some seven laps before Kimmons was able to gun past him and garner the checkered flag, In C class the honors went to Bob Swindler who outran Jim Schroeder to the finish line. Powderpuff c o m p e titlon saw Charlene Kimmons beat June Popham. Next race will be held Sun day, May 14, according to track officials. Gresdel hit four for four for OTI and Hughes, the los ing twirler, three for six for SOC. It was OTI's only win In three league games with the Raiders. The clubs each have 5-4 marks in the OCC. Walt O'Neil doubled in one run, Jerry Gilbert doubled across two and Ellis Olson plated one run with a single for the Tri-City splurge. Ashland Crater high took over third place in the South ern Oregon conference base ball chase here yesterday with a 5 to 2 decision over the Ashland Grizzlies. The Comets had three-hit pitching by Doug Pfaff and three for four hitting by Ed Allen. Errors proved damag ing to Ashland. , ' Crater broke a 2-all dead lock with two runs in the fifth inning. Pat Pepper and1 Allen singled in the canto. There was one walk and a double steal try resulted in Grizzlies miscues, on the overthrow and on the out field recovery effort. Pat Pepper's second hit of the game, a safe blow by Pfaff a. id an error enabled Crater 'o get a sixth inning tally. For two markers in the second frame Allen doubled and Jeff Anhorn singled. Friday high school meets will have St. Mary's at Rogue River and Illinois Valley at Phoenix. . ' On Saturday Medford goes to Grants Pass and Crater and Ashland go to Grants Pass. Grants Pass, which was 105 17 winner over Klamath Falls, last week entertained Roseburg today. Eagle Point has its intramural meet on Friday evening. Among ninth graders South Grants Pass will be at Crater on Friday. Hedrlck ninth travels to Ashland on Satur day and McLoughlin to"Klam atii Falls. Hedrlck seventh and eighth journey to South Grants Pass for a Thursday meet. On Fri day McLoughlin will entertain Central Point at the senior high here. - A big Saturday event will be the Eagles Invitational at Eagle Point. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders from 10 schools in the county will compete In three classes. The Grizzlies had a 4 to 1 gap after four innings. Crater cut it to 4 to 3 with two sixth Inning counters on an error, two walks and Wayne Clay's single. Ashland came back in the top-of the seventh with a score on Ron Scholer's single and steal and John Polk's hit. The Comets closed the gap to one run in the bottom of the seventh on Gary Burns' triple and Dennis Cornutt's safety. . Bases on balls yielded to Ashland, along with miscues hurt the Comet effort. Start ing Crater tosser Larry Ma son permitted one hit, walked five, and hit a batter. He struck out five. Burns walked two and fanned four. Rick Hester hurled a six hitter for Ashland, walking five and striking out one.
