A garden patio, arranged ,on the stage for the event, , contained pink and turquoise ..patio furniture, fresh flowers and lighted glass balls. Secretaries day, Rogue River chapter of National Secretar ies association (International) gave i a dinner Wednesday night at Rogue Valley Coun try club for the wives of mem bers' employers. The party for wives of "bosses" is an annual event. . ' A madrigal group of Med ford High school sang, direct ed by Lynn Sjolund, and Parker Woods Leons staged a style show for the group. Miss Judy Bertrand was narrator, and models were Mrs. Merle Deets, Mrs. Dave Melson, Mrs.1 John Henderson, Mrs. itene Davis, Mrs. Robert 'I. Levi son, Ashland..' t ' ;. ; ' Mrs. Jeanne Rose,' chapter nresident, introduced the guests. They were Mrs. Wil-' bam F. Herman Jr., Mrs. Byron Griffith, Mrs. Jim Eas ton, Mrs. Jack McHugh, Mrs. Harry Marshall, Mrs. Keith Edlafsen, Mrs. Bren H. Starch er, Mrs. John T. Weisel, Mrs. Philip Lowry and Mrs. Walter G. Garner. Gifts for members and guests had been provided by Medford merchants. Mrs. Margery Eaton spoke briefly about National Secre taries, saying that it is a pro fessional group designed - to meet the needs of the em ployed secretary. There are 500 chapters in the United States and several other coun tries and the International headquarters are located ; in Kansas City, Mo. Through sponsorship of the Certified Professional Secretary exami nation, the association seeks to elevate the standards of secretarial performance. Mrs. Marie A. Rutter was chairman of the dinner. Tickets may be obtain ed from members of the troupe or from Mrs. Lenore Zapell, director. , Women Return From Trip North; Visit in Salem i Eagle Point-Mrs. Roy Stan ley and Mrs. Edward Cham berlain have returned from a week's trip north during which they visited relatives and friends in Oregon and Washington, and observed the Oregon State legislature in Salem. , The tvo left by automobile Monday, April 17, and made stops in Gold Hill,,. Grants Pass, Eugene, Salem, Oregon City, Portland, Vancouver, Long Beach, Wash., Seaside, Cannon Beach, Delake and Reedsport. They talked with Robert Duncan, speaker of the House of Representatives after watching sessions considering bills related to daylight sav ings time and off-shore oil. In Portland they visited with Mr. and Mrs. James Edge and family, former Eagle Point residents, and stopped at Mr. Edge s new store in Westlake. Returning with the travel ers was Mrs. Hilda Burley, Long Beach, a cousin of Mrs Stanley, who plans to remain in Eagle Point for an extend ed visit at the Stanley home. Other guests of . Mrs. Stan ley recently were Mr. and Mrs. William McFarling, Port land. Mrs. McFarling was a schoolmate of Mrs. - Stanley and the two traveled to Cuba together a. few years .ago. Bedford Women Attend Meeting ; The Oregon State Council of Carpenters auxiliaries met in Baker recently for the sixth annual convention. Delegates from the Medford auxiliary were Mrs. Richard Hargrove, Mrs. Lloyd Fischer, and Mrs. Herbert Sharp. Mrs. Dan Fra ser, Portland, was re-elected president, and the next con vention will be held in Port land. The local auxiliary held a potluck dinner recently. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Fraser. ' Topic Announced For Stamp Club "Washington, D.C. on Slides and Stamps" will be the title of the program to be present ed at the meeting of the Southern Oregon Stamp club Thursday, May 4. The club meets at 8 p.m. at the Girls' Community club. Know Forests To Be Topic Central Point - A program on "Know Your Forests" will be presented by Mrs. Ivan Skyrman at a meeting of Cen tral Point Garden club at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the home of Mrs. Curtis L. Hop kins, 3775 Old Military road. Mrs. R. D. Kay and Mrs. Lester Gorden led a work shop on choosing and prepar ing horticulture specimens for flower shows at the April meeting of the club. Members toured the gardens surround ing Mrs. John Holmer's home on Old Stage road following a potluck luncheon. They also visited Mrs. Kay's home on the hill near Tolo overpass to see a garden Mrs. Kay has developed on a shal low soiled stony slope.
