Helping to win the honor for1 OSC were two Medford students, Nancy G. Adams, route 4, box 41 OH, a junior; and Annette " G. Davidson, 1308 Eureka Circle, a fresh man...' - Jn the contest, student and teacher entries are sent into the company and judged on ihortland style and form of shorthand character. Citations are given to the three U.S. colleges whose students rank highest.. X' - . OSC has .been among the . inn thren schools every year but one since 1984,, and its record of four first places in row is the best compiled by any college, The work of 176 advanced students : made up the OSC entry. Their teachers were Mrs. Louise Ornor, Mrs. Hilda M. Jones, and Lloyd Q. Larse. ' : ' . The demand for OSC-traln-ed secretaries and business ed ucator! teachers , far exceeds the supply of graduates every year, according to Dr. C. T. After a week long campaign, the victors were; president,' Dan Hays; vice president, -Kerby Koop man; secretary, June Hopkins (reelected); ; treasurer, B e v Klimko; business manager, Marlon Payne; and yell queen, Jollene Greene. An assembly was held the day before for campaign speeches. The new officers will be Installed In May. Retiring officers will be Dave Foote, : president; John Doherty, vice president; Judy Klmmey, treasurer; and Gary Meade, business manager. ' Kerry Koopman recently copped the regional presiden cy of Future Teachers . of America at the Region II con vention at Klamath Union High. ' Kerry will preside at the regional meetings and handle the regional bulnens, The Crater High FTA Scrapbook won first place at the convention. Students from Gold Hill, Sums Valley and Central Point Jun ior High are participating, The participants are entered In hu morous reading, serious Inter pretation, , poetry, oratorical declamation and debate. Purpose of the tournament Is to. Interest junior high stu dents in speech,,' Forensic club President Dayle Nosheim Is the chairman. Adviser is Don Lacy. ' , "Muale Time" was the theme for the spring concert produced by the Crater High music department under the direction of -Norman Caroth-, ra. Tape recordings of music classes and colored slides were presented by Principal William Brewster In the li brary, along .with displays of audio-visual aids and library books, Instruments and text books of each room. The Parent-Teacher associ ation served refreshments. Populates To Tour Area High Schools . Ashland - Southern Oregon college's' singing group, the Popululrcs, will leave Mon day, May 1, on a concert tour to a number of southern Ore gon high schools. .Monday morning they will appear in Rogue Rivor and Drain, and In tho afternoon at Elltton. Tuesduy morning the group will perform at Gold Beach, Pacific High school nour Port Orford, and in tho afternoon at Bandon. On Wednesday they will ap pear at C o q u 1 1 1 e, Myrtle Point, and Powers. .
