Women's News Spring Conference Held Here by Business Women The annual spring confer ence of the southern Oregon district, Oregon Federation of Business and P r o f e s sional Women's clubs, closed Sunday morning with a breakfast ses sion at Rogue Valley Country club. : Seventy-five members and guests from several south em Oregon cities attended a dinner meeting', Saturday night at the club, and 65 were present for the breakfast. Here for the meeting were Mrs. William L. Blizzard,- Os wego, president of the state federation;. Mrs.- Ruth Bray, Coos Bay, state membershio chairman, and Mrs. Kenneth Bricco, Klamath Falls, south ern Oregon district chairman, Another guest was Miss Savitrl Pandit, East Indian student attending Oregon State university on a BPWC scholarship. Slides On Rocks Shown At Meeting At the recent meeting ' of the Roxy Ann Gem and Min eral club, more than 75 mem bers and guests saw the slide program, "Life Revealed In The Rocks." ' Not only did the slides por tray fossil-bearing localities, but also the geologic ages of the earth along with their fauna and flora. Chester Fitch also spoke on the fossils of this area, and assisted in iden tifying specimens brought in for the display. In addition, Bruce Nelson, director pf the summer camp at the Clarno fossil beds, told of the work being done in this locality. At the Eugene show, April 8 and 9, the club president, Leland Mentzer, won the best In the show trophy for his display of. dendritic agates. The club case won a second place ribbon in its division. Both these prize-winning ex hibits will be on display in the Southern Oregon Gem and Mineral show at the Med ford Armory on May 13 and 14. Walter Turner, federation director for the club, report ed on a meeting he attended of the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies. The federation has started training sessions for those in terested in becoming gem and mineral judges, and . is con stantly adding to its list of programs available to mem ber clubs. Barracks, Auxiliary Hold Social Meeting At Community Club Veterans of World War I, Barracks 840 and auxiliary, held their monthly social and potluck dinner April 19 at the Girls Community club, Sixty-five members attend ed the dinner which was su pervised by the refreshment chairmen, Mrs. Fred Clark and Mrs. Thomas B. Lynch The tables were decorated with bouquets of tulips and lilacs from the gardens of Mr and Mrs. Frank Johnson. ' Kenneth Farner from the local Sociay Security office spoke on changes in social se curity benefits and answered questions from members.
