A three-year letterman, the
six-footer was co-captain of

In' high school, Chapman's
prep career was under the

Spiegelberg. Chapman was co
captain for the state team in
the 1954 prep Shrine game.
Chapman graduated from
Oregon in 1958 after major
ing in education.
He has been at Springfield
High since 1959 teaching his
tory and assisting in track

Track Meet; Tornado Second
Grants Pass high scored
strongly with its depth in the
late events to win the Rotary
club track and field meet at
Grants Pass yesterday after
noon. Medford was in front with
10 events recorded but the
Cavemen of GP ran one, two,
four in the 880 to take the
lead, strengthened it with a
sweep of the first three places
in the pole vault and closed
out with one, two, five in the
discus.
With first places in five
events, the Cavemen ran up
83 points. Medford, with six
first spots, was second with
66 27. Roseburg scored
29 47, Crater 24 17 and
Rogue River 2. No meet rec
ords fell.
"Mike Crunigan took the
mile for Roseburg and win

fourth inch back.
Mclntyre led, off and Eaton
ran second leg as the Tornado
took their relay in a good

change. Crater fell out of the
running on a spill' by Champ
on the last exchange.

on the sheet. But when the
Cavemen added their points
i the half-mile the count was
in the host team's favor 58
to 56 1114. The sweep in
the vault made it 70 to 58 for
GP.
