in American Legion junior
baseball.
Division commissioner Bill
Askwith of Cheney Forest
Products, which sponsors the
Central Point team, reported
that his club and Medford
will play their home tilts at
the Veterans Administration
field at White City.
The park at the fair
grounds which Askwith and
the Cheney firm have kept up
for numerous seasons, has
been taken over again by the
county.
League play will start on
Tuesday, June 6, with the CP
Cheney Studs playing one
Klamath Falls team at White
City. Medford will engage
the other Klamath team on
the following night at the
same location. Central Point
will have a non-league game
on May 28 with one of the
KF clubs.
Hatfield Retires
Askwith will handle the
CP team. Cliff McLean re
portedly will coach Medford.
Klamath , mentors will be Al
Keck and John Paxton. Hi
Hatfield is retiring after
many seasons of baseball
management at Klamath
Falls. His club reached the

last year by taking state and
regional diadems.
Grants Pass will not have
a Legion team this year. It is
reported that not enough
sponsors could be obtained in
the Climate city.
Teams of the circuit are ex
pected to be much stronger
this year because of the ma
jor rule change upplng the
age limit. Any boy whose
date of birth was on or after
Jan. 1, 1943, is eligible. This
adds eight- months to the age
limit and means that some
boys who are over 18 years
of age may play.
