The miners from south of the border headed 8 to 4 when Crater came to bat in the bot tom of the seventh inning. Jeff Anhorn led off with a single for the Comets. Ed Allen flied out but Pat Pepper walked and the bases were filled when Jim Allen was safe on a dropped fly ball. Darryl Summerfield flied to center field and Anhorn tal lied after the catch. After Don Pfaff walked to fill the bags again Mike Pepper bounced a single over the head of short stop John Ellis driving Pat Pepper and Jim Allen home. The rally ended on a flyout by Mike Glines. Glines, Louis Alvarez and Anhorn for Crater and Jiggs Saee for Yreka each had two hits. Driving in two runs each, in addition to the Comets Mike Pepper, were Butch Mc Carthy and Ellis of the Miners. Crater got a pair of runs in the first inning on a walk, a hit by Alvarez and two errors. The Miners went ahead with three runs in the second frame Frank Charley walked three and struck out two. Gary Burns, the Crater pitcher, al lowed 10 hits and five bases on balls. He struck out five. Eagle Point will go to Rogue River on Friday for Rogue league play. Yreka got five of its seven hits and five runs off Doug Pfaff who pitched 3 13 irn nings, walked two and struck out three. His reliever, Mike Pepper, was charged with three runs, gave up two hits and two walks and fanned four. Green went five frames on the hill for the Miners. He gave up four runs, five hits and two bases on balls, whif fing one. Jackson Lawe, over the last two panels was re sponsible for three runs, three hits and three bases on balls. He struck out two. BEARCATS WIN Salem - (UPD - Willamette defeated Oregon college 83-47 in a track meet Tuesday as Ken Ashley scored 13 points and George Tiger 12V4 for the Bearcats. governs Medford Y Swimmers Triumph Against Eugene Medford YMCA swimming team defeated Eugene, 274 to 250 Sunday afternoon at the Medford Y pool. The meet out come was undecided until the last two relays. In the 15-16 boys age group Ted Lyons won the 40 breast stroke, 40 back stroke, 40 but terfly, 100 free style and 160 individual medley for Med ford. Ted and Bill Dames, Tom Antley and Bruce Hess won both relays for this age group, Bruce Hess swam to first for Medford in the 13-14 age group 40 free style, back stroke, butterfly and the 160 individual medley, unofficial ly breaking Columbia Basin league records in every race but the medley. ' Linda Hess and Darilyn Hu son of Medford together dom inated the 15-16 age girls with Linda winning first in 40 back and breast strokes, 40 butter fly and the 160 medley. Miss Hess was one-tenth of second faster in the breast stroke that the existing CBL record Darilyn specialized in free style winning both the 40 and the 100. In the 11-12 girls, Rhonda Hess won first in three events, the 40 back, butterfly and 160 medley. Swimming with Rhonda, Kathy Stacey, Karen Casey and Carol Little won both the medley and the free style for the local team.
