Local and Answer Alarm - City fire men were dispatched to 880 Shafer lane about 7:30 p.m. yesterday when a house fire alarm was received. They found the home owner, Ben L. Wells, burning out two old car bodies. There was no other fire. Monroe Sweetland (D-Milwaukie) said today he plans to leave the legislature when his term ex pires next year. That would make 10 years in the state legislature, and Sweetland said he considered it enough for the time being. Sweetland, publisher of the Milwaukie Review, said he felt it was time to "move along to other fields of interest." He declined to elaborate. Sweetland was twice de feated in races for secretary of state, in 1956 and 1960. SMITH ' Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Gvalena Smith, 61, of 317 Weightman St., Ashland, who died Thursday, will be held at Ashland Mortuary Chapel, Fourth and C sts., Ashland, Monday, at 1 p.m. The Rev. E. H. McGee will of ficiate. Committal will, be in Mountain View cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born May 26, 1900, in Miles City, Mont. She was married June 20, 1928, in Ashland, to Carl H. Smith, who survives. She had lived in Ashland for 52 years, moving from Montana. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors, besides her hus band, Include her mother, Mrs. Eva McMillan, and a sis ter, Mrs. A. F. Dresseler, both of Medford. LEONARD M. LEMONS Funeral services for Leon ard M. Lemons, 51, of the Old Stage rd., who died Wednes day, will be held at Hillcrest Mortuary chapel, on the North Phoenix rd. Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Lem ons Jr., at home; a brother, Levi Lemons, Crossett, Ark.; and a sister, Mrs. Sam Tom lin, Grants Pass. He was staff solo ist with them for a time, and later was also the staff soloist with station KJR in Seattle for two years, and four years as tenor soloist in Seattle churches. He was also a solo ist with the late composer, Charles Wakefield Cadman, in San Diego. In 1930, Mr. Maddox was married in the Medford Pres byterian church to Aileen Crawford, who survives.
