Tony Eaton left home Mon- -day evening to go for a walk -with his dog. The dog returned home late that night, alone Bloodhounds were called into the search. Eaton's wife walked two miles to the home of a neigh bor to report the disappear ance. . Friends said' Eaton spent many years in Alaska where he was a miner and hunter. He was reported bothered by poor eyesight but was quite active for his age. . We had a tea time bread demonstration by Linda Ro senberger. We had bread and Klamath Falls Man Faces Questioning Klamath Falls -WPD- Arthur Arnold Phelps, 43, Klamath Falls, was to undergo ques tioning today in connection with the death of his wife, Morene Ruth, 40, who was found apparently choked to death Tuesday, morning. Phelps, an electrician, was apprehended by state police on highway 97 just south of here Tuesday night. His wife's body was found in her bed .Tuesday morning by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Floyd Phelps. The sister-in-law, said she went to the home after re ceiving a phone call early in the morning saying she had better take care of the chil dren. The husband was gone at the time. A letter apparently written by Phelps, was found in the home. Dr. McKinney To Read Paper at Conference Ashland Dr. William Mc Kinney, assistant professor of social science at Southern Ore gon college, has been invited to read a paper entitled "Russell Hinman, Pioneer Physical Geographer," at the annual meeting of the As sociation of Pacific Coast Geographers, April 6 and 7 at San Francisco State col lege. Dr. McKinney's paper is based on the life and works of Russell Hinman, 1953-1912, an author of geography text books and a former director of the American Book , company. David Calla way gave a report on ring worms, and Jan Callaway gave a report on pneumonia. Our guest was David Nelson. Earlier in March, the club took a tour to view each member's project. We judged a class of jersey cows at Del bert Mongolds and two classes of Jerseys at Cliff Moores. The next meeting will be held April 12 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall. Richard Smith, plus demon stration of the braille system Two Youths Stopped En Route South Ashland - Two 13-ycar-old Medford boys were stopped by Ashland police Monday af ternoon as they were headed for California. Police Chief Herb Hays said the boys had pack sacks and planned on caddying at public golf courses in southern Cali fornia. They had walked part of the way to Ashland, and planned on traveling to Cali fornia by bus, Hays indicated. Ashland police took the boys to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention home. of writing and steps in mak ing braille books will be pre sented at Southern Oregon college, Thursday, March 30, at 10 a.m. in Churchill hall auditorium. The program is directed by the Transcribers Society for the Blind, w h 1 c h makes braille books by employing the blind themselves to copy the books by hand, thus fur nishing needed employment to many blind transcribers. After these books are bound they become a part of a large National Library, and are sent, out by mail free to any blind person in the United States and Canada. Stong of the Pur ucker Music House in Med ford was elected a director of the Northwest Music Mer chants association at a recent music merchants conference in Portland. Stong will serve on the board of directors for two years. Stong was a speaker at the two-day meeting attended by 200 merchants and sponsored by the National Association of Music Merchants and the Northwest merchants group.
