All I could say was that if I had such a problem I per sonally would take the boy to a huge clinic. Why? Be cause there I would find some men who had seen a dozen or a hundred of these rare tumors. They would tell me, from personal experience, and also from a wide knowledge of what has been done else where, what would be the best way of tackling the prob lem. A big clinic is good, also, for the physicians who prac tice in it. They can specialize narrowly in one small group of diseases, or in performing a few types of very difficult operations. By daily consult ing with their fellows, and by often going to big national conventions, they can keep up-to-date. They have time for study. Being on a fixed salary, they have no temptation to "make work" or to perform an operation of doubtful value to the patient. Ease and Cheapness One of the splendid fea tures about clinic practice is the case and cheapness with which consultations can be ob tained. In a big city, the pa tient may have to go across town to the consultant's of fice, or he may have to pay for the doctor's coming to a hospital to see him and there by to lose half or more of his morning. In a clinic, all a doctor has to do is to pick up the tele phono and say, "Bill, will you come up to my room; I have n patient here whom I would like you lo see." Are you bothered by myste rious head noises and occa siunal spells of dizziness? Dr. Alvarez explains these and discusses treatments in his booklet, "Head Noises and Dizziness." It may be obtained by sending 25 cents and a large, stamped, self-addressed envelope with your request to Dr. Waller C. Alvarez, Dept.
