Lebanon Airman Injured by Bullet Great Falls, Mont. -WPD The accidental dicharge of a ' service pistol killed an air policeman at Mulmstrom Air Force Base Tuesday and crit ically injured an Oregon air man. Airman 1-C Wadsworth Jones, 25, Evanston, 111., a member of the 4642nd sup port squadron at the air base, died instantly when the 45 cal ibre slug struck him. Airman 3-C James D. Rimer, about 24, of Lebanon. Ore., a weather observer assigned to the 29th air division at Malmstrom, was critically injured by the same bullet. Base officials said Jones was showing Rimer his pistol when it discharged, passing through Jones' body and striking Rimer. (J. 5. Helpless To Protect Citizens Washington-IUPll-The United Stales is helpless to guarantee protection to Americans who refuse to leave the Congo as long as it backs the United Nations effort to prevent mili tary intervention in the coun try. This is the dilemma the State Department faced today following growing reports of brutalization of U.S. citizens by Congo troops. The State Department said it has been taking "all pos sible measures" to protect Americans, primarily mission aries, in the country. But it appeared this country could do little but appeal to Its citizens to leave the Congo which it has already done and urge the United Nations to protect those who insist on remaining..
