More?, who have coma to Medford from Spokane, Wash., and will live in Rogue Valley Manor, were honored at a dinner February 23 which observed their golden wedding anniversary. UN Pilgrimage Winner To Speak Miss Linda Lewis, 1960 southern Oregon representa tive on a United NationB pil grimage, will be a guest of Mistletoe camp, Royal Neigh bors of America, at a meeting Thursday, March 18, at the Knights of Phythias hall. Pot luck dinner will be served at 6 p.m. preceding the meeting. Miss Lewis, whose pilgrim age was sponsored by the Odd Fellows lodge, will show slides and tell of her trip. Of ficers will practice for the coming convention after the program. Demonstration Given By Extension Agent County Extension Agent John McLoughlin gave a dem onstration on pruning of shrubs at a recent meeting of Willow Springs Home Exten sion unit. Members met at the home of Mrs. Archie Purdy, 3521 Oakpine Way, Central Point. A nominating committee was appointed during the morning business session and officers will be selected at the next meeting at the Martin residence. Selection of chil dren's clothing will be the topic. Moreys Honored On Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Morey were honored at a dinner February 23 which celebrated their 50th wedding anniver sary. The dinner was served at the home of their nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Hess, 1055 Ross lane. The Moreys, who spent most of their married years in Spo kane, Wash., will move into Rogue Valley Manor In the near future. Another celebration was held in their honor in Port land by their two sons and wives, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morey and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morey. The Donald Moreys cele brated their fourth wedding anniversary on the same day. 4 Retired Group To Hear Two Speech Students Two Medford High school speech students will speak at a meeting of the Jackson County Retired Teachers as sociation Monday, March 13, at 1:30 p. m. at Girls Com munity club, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Jewett will be hosts. DeVere Taylor, Medford, High school speech Instructor will present two of the stu dents from the team which won the sweepstakes in a re cent speech tournament a t Linfield college, Ray Lewis, chorus instruct or, will direct the McLoughlin Junior High school chorus, which will sing for the association. Veterans, Auxiliary Announce Dinner Veterans of World War I, barracks 540, and auxiliary will have a covered dish din ner Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in Girls Community club. Mrs. J, P. Graham and committee will be in charge of the program following dinner. Club's Fund-Raising Event Reported To Be Successful The treasury of the St. Mary's Grade School Parents' club was enriched by more than $700 recently as the re sult of a rummage sale, the organization's principal fund raising activity. According to a report given at the recent meeting of the parochial parent group, Mrs. Jack Van Dyek assisted Dan Hull, finance committee chair man, in making arrangements for the successful sale. Others on their committee included Joe Zarosinskt, E. M. Nelson, Mrs, Richard Randolph and Mrs. Earl Igo. Funds raised by the Par ents club are used for visual aid purchases, athletic equip ment and miscellaneous school and club expenses. Library Committee Mrs. Randolph, chairman of the library maintenance com mittee reported that library Attendance Large At Club Meeting About 95 club members at tended the last week's meet ing of the Townsend club at Walker's Dreamland. Mem bership Chairman James Bishop reported the club has four new members. Five visi tors were among those pres ent. Stale Director Finis L. Snodgrass reported that the national Townsend convention will be held at Grand Rapids, Mich,, July 1-6. Members discussed pending national legislation concern ing medical care for older cit izens. Woody Murphy's Easy Val ley Harmonatres orchestra furnished music for dancing. The next Townsend Harm ony club meeting will be held at Walker's Dreamland on Wednesday, March 15, with a potluck luncheon at 12 o'clock noon. expenses for the current year have included the purchase of three sets of encyclopedias and an atlas. She said that $1000 still remains in the separate library fund from which these purchases are made. Mrs, Bean Pruett, chairman of room mothers, reminded mothers that they will soon be called upon to clean and recover books belonging to the public school system. This is done each year as the text books are completed and be fore they are returned to the book source. John Bossi, In a report on the grade school athletic pro gram, said a successful bas ketball season has now been completed under the direction of Duane Daley. The eighth grade team has been entered in a CYO tournament in Port land this week end, ha said. Commended Myron Holien and Bill Whitman were commended for the help they gave to the athletic program this year. According to Mrs. John Jensen, the uniform commit tee will meet this week with a representative of the uni form company to select mate rials and discuss details of uniform purchase. Other members of her committee are Sister M. Naadene Ann, Sister M. Inez Joan, Mrs. Dean Pruett and Mrs. Charles Wieskamp. Room count for the March meeting was won by Sister Marian Arthur's first grade room. Parent award for the evening was presented to Arnolct Paradis. Trailer Trip Hornbrook - Mr. and Mrs. John Griffin returned March 2 from a two month's trailer trip. They visited in the Los Angeles area, Palm Springs, and Saiton Sea and spent a month on the Colorado river. Mrs. Griffin is the mother of Mrs. Robert Rukovma, of Medford. To Meet Tuesday The regular hunt of Ba guette circle, Military Order of Lady Bugs, wilt be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall Tuesday, March 14. A potluck dinner at 8:30 p.m. will precede the meeting. Delegates and alternates will be elected for the royal hunt to be held in Salem May 13 end 1. Thursday Meeting Central Point- The Chris tian Service circle of the First Presbyterian church of Cen tral Point wilt meet on Thurs day, March 18 at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Orvilie C, Hamilton, Modoc road, with Mrs, Ruth Foote as co-hostess.
