Wests id a Mer- Y Natators Have Meet In Portland The Medford YMCA boys swim team will journey to Portland this week end to participate in an age group meet. The meet will be held at the Multnomah Athletic club and will have contestants from all over the northwest, with at least one national record hold er. Representing the local team will be nine boys who are entered in 13 events. In the 11-12 group Phil Taylor will swim the 50-yard free style, 50-yard breast stroke and the 200 individual, medley. Kirby Lusk and Riley McHugh will swim the 50 free, the 50 back, and the 50 breast stroke. Den nis Carson will swim the 50 free and the 50 back. These four boys will enter as a team in the two relays for this age group. Taylor holds the Columbia Basin league record in the 50 free at :28.5, set in the recent CBL Northwest champion ships held at Vancouver, Wash. Hess Heads The 13-14 age group is head ed by Bruce Hess, present holder of the State AAU rec ord for the 50 free at :25.1. Bruce will enter the 100 free, 100 butterfly and the 200 in dividual medley. Ben Taylor will swim in the 100 free and Kelly McHugh in the 100 breast. Tim Brown, Ben Tay lor, Bruce Hess and Kelly McHugh will join forces for the 200-free style relay and the 200 medley relay. Ted Lvons is Medford's lone contestant in the 15-16 age group and is entered in the 100, 200, and the 400-yard free style races. Ted may have the opportunity of competing against Don Schollander, pres ent holder of the luo free ana 100 butterfly national records The Medford team is coach ed by Ken Lyons, recreation supervisor of the city park and recreation department.
